Stayed here for two nights on my own. Was convenient for touring local area. Was well maintained and clean with good garden area. Similarly the other people staying here were very friendly and would congregate in a bizarre small bar area most nights.

This is one of the oldest backpackers in Cape Town and well established. The place is very busy and so the service is not very personalised. We had a double room around the pool area, which all sounds very nice. That is until drunken revellers get home at whatever time of the early hours and decide to carry on partying... More

Stayed here for one night. the building itself had character and is quite pretty. The room we stayed in was filthy. Feathers on the bedspread, birds nesting in the open area. Not a bad place, maybe we just had a bad experience.

Stayed here on 4 separate occasions...I'm a young traveller and an African junkie..this is the most ideal location for any person who is looking to meet like minded travellers..cool bar ,cool pool, great views, great balcony to sit out and read and drink a beer..I will be back for a 5 th stay some time I hope

This is a great place. Really well located, price is right and the building fab. Rooms are super, with personal safes, clean and all great. EXCEPT teh 5 nights we had there, we couldn't sleep. Sure they ask people not to make nose after midnight, but the rooms are around the pool and sure enough between 2 and 4 am... More

Ashanti was really lovely for the 12 days I was there. I stayed in a private room with the shared bathroom. The room was nice, the staff was nice, all the tours I booked through them were awesome. I loved not being on Long Street, but instead closer to Kloof, which has better restaurants, lower-key bars and feels much safer.... More

We stayed in a private dorm (over the road from the actual hostel but you can still use all of the facilities) and so we didn't have any of the noise issues that some of the other reviewers had.
