We recently stayed at Hippo Hollow and found the staff to be courteous and friendly, constantly going out of their way to assist us and always remembering our names. The hippo visited in front of the restaurant 2 out of the 3 nights we were there, such a pleasure to have awsome food,in an awsome setting with a hippo only 10 meters... More

This was a poor hotel! We stayed 2 nights and could not wait to get away. Near to a busy main road so little chance of seeing any "wild" animals. Saw no sign of any hippos! Worse was lack of water when we were there. There was no hot water. Even cold water was variable in pressure from ok to... More

We spent 2 nights at Hippo Hollow last week. It looks really nice when you approach the main building, but this hotel is kinda like a Monet painting: from afar it looks really pretty but once you take a closer look, it's a mess. Like I said: the main building and restaurant area are well maintained. The rooms however are... More

I absolutley love this hotel. This 3* hotel is beautifully presented, with friendly staff its perfect for thoose of you who want to stay near Kruger National Park. The hotel offered enough facilities and services for what we wanted as we had lots planned. Location - Hippo Hollow is approximatley 45 minutes from mpunalanga airport, about 20 minutes from the... A lovely safe place to stay, offering elegant accommodation and facilities. We ate well at the venue and enjoyed looking out of the restaurant windows of an evening to see the local hippos grazing just metres away. Also, we thoroughly enjoyed the Shangana evening that presented lively dancing and lovely singing. A great place to stay, with good service, food... More

Great location near Kruger so you can get to the gate first thing, only problem with that is the room we stayed in was right by the busy main road so it was extremely noisy at night and early in the morning. The huts by the pool are very nice, spacious, clean, comfy but we had a problem being in... More

I knew by looking at all tripadvisor advices that it wasn't the best place to stay at but it was booked by an agency...so I haven't been more disappointed but It confirms most of the reviews. 2 nights there were enough. We were in a chalet which could have been nice but a lots of insects had found it nice... More

As part of a tour we stayed three nights at the hotel. The setting by the Sabie river with overlooking terrace and lawns down to the river where we were amazed to see hippos grazing while having meals on the terrace (where else in the World can you see this?). The hotel rooms are spread out over the site, in... More

Just returned from a tour of South Africa with Riviera Travel ( highly recommend this company) and stayed at Hippo Hollow for three nights. Lovely hotel with great staff and set in an idyllic location. The most memorable evening was sitting having dinner in the hotel whilst watching two hippos grazing on the banks of the river, awesome. The restaurant... More
