Our family of 10 (our children and grandchildren, all of us from Australia) stayed at Stanley Guest House, a grand family home with 3 large bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (with bath and shower , 2 with hand held shower, 1 with shower recess), a huge lounge and dining area, a large verandah overlooking a waterhole and a well equipped kitchen. The... More

Satara has always been one of our favourite camps, but on our last trip in April we were sooo disappointed. The service was appalling to say the least. What really changed our minds was the fact that on the first night I had to get out of bed because I suddenly started to itch and could not stop scratching it... More

Visiting the Kruger is an institution that all South Africans should indulge in - its a haven of tranquility and unspoiled nature. I do fear however that standards are dropping fast. As fast as they are dropping, the prices have risen exponentially - this park was always so reasonable to visit. Not anymore! The family's 2 night stay at this... More

One of my favourite camps. Great game viewing area and ideally suited in Park. Bungalows well equipped and clean. Slightly overlooked but still fine for a night

Most people will agree on recommending Satara for game viewing around the camp, it is a beautiful area, but the accommodation on offer is deficient. The rondavels in general are not maintained, they feel old and rundown. The furniture was almost nonexistent (not even hangers, like at other Kruger camps), and the cleaning of the rooms was the worse of... More

Satara restcamp is located in the middle of the lions territory which makes it really interesting for those who wants to see cats. Also contrary to the south of the Kruger the area is dryer which means that the animals are much easier to see. The accomodations are fine and clean with a little barbecue to cook you own food... We stayed in Satara because of it being central. I have stayed there many times a child on holiday with my parents. The rondawels are in circles and we had 3 adjacent to each other as we were 7 people. We saw a honey badger one evening after our braai. We initially thought it was all the caramel vodka but... More

We loved Satara! We were so glad that we followed the advice of the locals we met and changed our itinerary so we could stay here. It's a lovely camp - larger than many of the others we stayed in, but it did not feel crowded. It maintained the personal and neighbourly feeling of the smaller camps, but had all... More

We recently stayed for two nights in one of the two-bedroom cottages at Satara. The cottage was clean and acceptably equiped with dishes, cutlery, etc. We we able to improvise to meet all cooking needs. Furnishings were tired-looking but clean, and we were provided with plenty of towels. Our choice of Satara was based on the camp location--we used it... More
