We went with friends, 6 off us, the resort is beautiful, and has wonderful settings, the unit was very spacious, modern with great finished, really made us feel comfortable and at home. There were buck at our door and warthogs running around, absolutely brilliant, we loved it. The pools were fantastic with great scenery. Lots of activities to do, with... More

We stayed at Mabalingwe for a weekend. We went on a "Hotel Package", although the accommodation is far from the standards of a decent hotel as such. You basically sleep in a room with en-suite bathroom (very basic) and drive in the reserve to the restaurant area (near reception) to have breakfast and dinner. The grounds are well kept and... More

we had our kids and grand kids over from the UK for a short 2 weeks. the grand kids had to prepare an AFRICA experience for their schools. the midweek stay from Monday to Friday at Mabalingwe gave them enough material to report on. the reception staff was excellent, directed us to our unit at Phiri camp, beautiful view over... "Welcome to Mabalingwe Nature Reserve Rich in abundant bird and animal life, including Africa’s “Big 5” - official Mabalingwe website quote! Spent 3 days in Mabalingwe in March 2012 hoping to see the above. How disappointing! Firstly, we had to pay to see lion in their own enclosure. Secondly, we saw only 1 elephant, 1 giraffe, a few buck and... More

Spent two nights in March. We ate at the restaurant which was very medioker. The hotel part of Mabalingwe needs an update. Game drives were really disappointing as we saw hardly any animals except Impala. Positive things are the distance from J-burg and the tennis courts.

We spend a week at Mabalingwe in January 2012 and enjoyed every minute of it. We stayed in a 6 bedder - the service were very good - we often saw someone from the management to hear if we had any complaints - and if so was attended to very quickly. We saw rhinos and several smaller game - which... More

Just got back from Mabalingwe Nature Reserve....Stayed over the w/end of the 18th Feb 2012. Saw a lot of buck, but no big game. Resort was pretty average. Watch out for the Absailing activity. It is a rip-off. R225 per person for a single climb down a 40m cliff! Won't go back again.

Do not waste your money if it is tranquility you are looking for. The noise from the restaurants extractor fan chases birds away and is so irritating. They are aware of this and promised to have this fixed 3 years ago, clearly they are not concerned.they misinformed us that this was sorted when we booked.

We are visiting family here from the US and took a couple of days to visit Mabalingwe Reserve. We stayed in a private Loge (Baobab Lodge in the Wolkop area) that exceeded our expectations. It over looked the bush and a watering hole which hosted game our entire stay. The game count was lost within a couple of hours as... More

Highlights: white lions, lots of animals, great company, and very good facilities. We are first time visitors to South Africa (and Africa), and visited Mabalingwe last weekend. Having never experienced this type of report or seen African animals in the wild, we have no reference point. However, we had an enjoyable couple of days in a wonderful setting. We stayed... More
