Situated very close to Sandton Shopping Mall as well as the Gautrain Station. Restaurant at the hotel is excellent. Sevice very good. Rooms are excellent. Can recommend to all visiting Johannesburg.
I have stayed at he Balalaika once for business and once with my wife and the rooms and service were both excellent. We now as a company use the hotel for many of our overseas colleagues due to its proximity to Sandton City, Nelson Mandela square and also the Gautrain.

Good value for a Sandton hotel, as long as you get a good rate, and this is not always direct with the hotel. I found vastly varying rates, so it's worth shopping around. The rates also vary daily depending on demand. Check whether breakfast is included, because it's pricey if you pay on the day.Very peaceful once you're through the...

Stayed just 1 night here in the standard room. Overall the hotel was decent , but the rooms and facilities needs a major overhaul as mentioned before in many reviews.

THis is the third time I've visited Johannesburg, but the first for pleasure with my wife. I find it a great place to start off from after the long flight, and the staff is oh-so-friendly. Sure it is a bit dated, but the ambiance is olde worlde. Nice to be back here. Felt like home

I have stayed at Balalaika a couple of times during business trips to Joburg and have had a great stay both times. Staff are very friendly, Bar serves good beer, and breakfast is great. Mandela Square and Gauteng train are a short distance away. Its great value for money and i will stay here next time for sure
