We just had one night and we came with a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old. We brought our own crib and used the sofa and a bed for our older child. The second-floor, private entrance, self-catering apartment where we stayed was spacious, with a separate bedroom, small kitchenette with bar seating, and small living room area with tv and very small... We spent two nights here recently, before and after a trip to Durban. Ginnegaap creates a great first impression: it's a lovely place and we got a great welcome. Both rooms were very attractive, comfortable, and equipped with thoughtful extras, such as a really good range of current magazines, wine glasses (and cork screw!). Restful colour schemes and plenty of... More

The Ginnegaap Guest House is located within a short 5-10 minute walking distance to 7th Street and great restaurants in Melville. The rooms were very clean, reasonably priced, and well-maintained, with plenty of hot water for bathing. Somewhat cold here during the winter months, but a small space heater provided sufficient heat to warm the room. The breakfasts provided were... More

No need to reiterate the review that have already been published. It exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort but if it's your first time to Johannesurg you have to realize that public transportation is lacking especially when compared to Europe. Depending on what you have planned, seeing Soweto, downtown, or the apartheid museum, isn't the most convenient but definitely... More

Two friends and I stayed at the Ginnegaap in October. We wanted to be in Melville, a little further away from downtown. It took about 40 minutes by cab from the airport. We really enjoyed our stay! Corleen, the owner was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed Thomas, an employee there with a great sense of humor. We had... More

I would definitely recommend this great geusthouse. Corlien and her staff are very nice abd very helpful, which is very nice an a city with a reputation as Jo'burg. The rooms are great. I stayed in the cheapest one but it was a pretty, big and comfortable room. More

I stayed at the Ginnegaap Guesthouse in June 2010 with my five year old daughter. We were there for the World Cup and really enjoyed our stay. The area was very safe and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much to ask. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We stayed in the main house and... More

My wife and I recently stayed at the Ginnegaap for 4 days, 3 nights. The purpose of our trip was the 2010 World Cup. While other B&Bs and hotels (particularly in Sandton) were raising their rates into the stratosphere, the Ginnegaap only raised their rates a modest amount. We decided to stay in Melville because we thought that the area... More

My first time to S. Africa could not have started off any better. The Ginnegaap Guest House was accommodating in every way when I was making my reservation slightly last minute. Due to the holidays, most people were in Cape Town and there was only one other couple staying while I was here. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.... More
