The Whalesong Hotel was not what I expected from a four star hotel. 1. Disliked — Location and steepness of access, especially with luggage When we arrived we had to carry our own luggage 2. The wood is in need of paint. It look terrible 3. The receptionist showed us our room and told us that the hotel is fully... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights whilst touring the Garden route. Staff were OK, but it is close to the N2 and very close to a petrol station. We did not suffer from any road noise, but we were in rooms furthest from the road, if you get one of the room closer to the road and are... More

We stayed here for two nights, it is very noisy, we could hear lorries driving up the hill to the N2 all night. Our view was spoilt by a huge Shell Petrol sign directly in front of the hotel. Convenient for travelling but not really a good place to stay if you want to be on the beach, as it... More

I stayed over for 1 night in Feb. The staff were extremely rude & had such an attitude. We asked to speak to the manager , but it had apparently recently been taken over by new owners, who werent there and had left the staff on their own. Eventually the "assistant manager" arrived , and was just as unfriendly. We... More

The reviews I had read before I went did not inspire belief that this would be one of the better hotels on the trip and we were pleasantly surprised. It was incredibly quiet, only one other couple staying there and we wondered if there was a snag but there wasn't one. The lodge room was fine and did have a... More

We stayed for one night on a garden route trip. Its location is ideal being just off the N2 although it is a little way out of town. The rooms were fine and the receptionist looked after us. We did not have dinner at the hotel although that did look like good value, we went to the Look-out which I... More

We stayed at the Whalesong for 3 nights in February 2009. The rooms were clean and spacious - lots of character. The service was good as was breakfast. The owners were very helpful in suggesting restaurants and the reception promptly organised transfers. The hotel had a nice relaxing feel. Previous reviews had commented on noise from the adjacent N2 being... More

Arrived in Plett not able to locate the hotel so had to go to the information centre for directions. we discovered it was on the road out of town towards Knysna on an island by services station on a Hill. Lots of security and people hanging around which made us feel uncomfortable, not very friendly staff and rooms in setting... More

Very easy to find but not the best location in Plettenburg Bay. The staff were OK, restaurant friendly, reception not so, questions were not received well, more of an inconvenience. Our room was fine but very dark and the access paths were quite steep. The pool was nice.
