do not hesitate to stay at the woodbury lodge we stayed there in april and despite some unseasonably cold wet weather we had a wonderful stay. from the moment we drove through the gates and were greeted by rhinos, elephants and zebras (before we even got to the lodge itself) to the moment we had to leave we were thrilled.... Let's be clear, Amakhala is not like a safari in Kenya. Woodbury Lodge is raised on an escarpment looking out over prairie-style plains towards hills that reflect the South Downs and you can see herds from your room deck, the bar deck and the pool deck. The area is huge but small enough for our charming ranger Amy to know... More

My wife and I were traveling two children, aged 6 and 9. Our bungalow had a small separate room which was perfect for them. Everything about this lodge was excellent. The food, the game drives, accomadations and the South African wine were all memorable. Our guide, Justin, was particularly knowlegable and a fun character to spend a few days with. More

We spent 3 nights here at the end of our tour of the Cape and we were not disappointed. We hoped it would be the highlight and it was. Not only did we see the Big 5 but giraffe 'necking' and a Cheetah kill. Kyle our guide was brilliant very caring towards the guests and very knowledgeable which made our... More

What a great start to our South Africa holiday. The location of Woodbury Lodge, nestled high against a wooded hillside and remote from any other lodges on the reserve is what drew me to select it. The accommodation is excellent, great comfort and every luxury you could wish for coupled with really friendly and attentive staff. Meals were excellent, with... More

Oh my goodness, such a wonderful experience. We had a lovely thatched cottage (there are only 6 of them). Superb bathroom with a view over the plains from a huge window - sitting on the loo, in the shower or laying in the bath! Lovely huge canopy bed. Great home cooked food and plenty of drink which is all inclusive.... More

We stayed at Woodbury Lodge for 3 nights as part of our South African honeymoon experience and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were just what we wanted - well kept and presented, tastefully and rustically decorated allowing you to feel warm and cosy yet enabling you to experience staying in the middle of the bush and not in some... It's hard to find the words to explain just what an amazing place Woodbury lodge is... We were greeted warmly on arrival and the fantastic hospitality continued until the end of our stay. The rooms were lovely, very private with a fantastic balcony for viewing the animals and birds. The food was brilliant throughout our 3 day stay. Sharing mealtimes... More

We stayed at Woodbury for 3 nights during October and can thoroughly recommend it. We saw a huge array of animals during the drives - lions, rhino, zebra, giraffes, cheetah, hippo, elephants, wildebeest, springbok, amazing birds, warthog, ostrich - it was amazing. Every drive was different and every single minute was pretty fascinating. Back at the lodge we enjoyed great... More

We spent 3 nights at the Woodbury Lodge on the Amakhala Game Reserve. All the lodges had names and our was called "Fish Eagle" Lodge, The Lodge was very comfortable and had everything you require. Each lodge was fairly secluded and very quiet with its' own terrace area. We had a lovely view of the plain from the decking of... More
