We stayed at the Castle in February, our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities a good selection of biscuits and good sized en-suite with quality toiletries. Our stay was during the 6 nations rugby and the matches were shown on a large screen in the bar where there was a really good atmosphere and free cawl... More

This is a great, warm, welcoming place and great value for money. There are many parking spaces at the side of the pub and I found a space no problem. The Inn is located in the heart of Newport which is such a stunning little village only a 5 minute walk from the estuary. So many beautiful little cottages with... More

When you visit the Castle you will be greeted by the lovely two new owners Nick and Julie! They can obviously not do enough for you, nothing is too much trouble. The food is very traditional and can cater to all budgets ranging from Bar Snacks to fine dining in the comfy dining room. The stay overall is extremely enjoyable... More

Stayed for a couple of nights over the Christmas/New Year period. The pub has just been taken over by new owners who cannot do enough to make sure their guests have an enjoyable stay. Comfortable room with plenty of hot water, quality toiletries, tea & coffee making facilities and a tv. Satisfying breakfast in the morning and good evening meals... More

We stayed in the family room which was lovely and spacious. Everything basic and no shower but at the same time no airs and graces so comfortable. Chef at breakfast was very accomodating and made sure we were very well fed before we left! We were warned that we stayed on a quiet night and they normally had live music... More

Lovely place Newport and the Castle Hotel looked good as a restaurant & pub. However, during the week we visited only twice due to daytime locals who were clearly drunk and who the bar staff failed to control and continued to serve. Good beer and a good welcome spoiled by middle aged loafers with nothing better to do than spend... More

We had a very enjoyable break. The room was surprisingly large, clean and comfortable, with a television and tea/coffeee-making facilities (no hairdryer though!). The staff were delightful - courteous and attentive - and to us, who are Welsh, it was an added bonus that many of them could converse with us in our own language. The hotel's crowning glory is...
