I have stayed with Rocky Mountain chalets 7 years in a row on a regular 9 day break with friends, plus on other ad hoc weekends. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Ohakune. We stayed at the chalet for a week while we went skiing at Turoa (25min away) and Whakapapa (40min away). The chalet was great - 2 bedrooms with a good size kitchen, washing machine, dryer (this came in very handy as it rained a lot!), and nice lounge room. My family including 3 children stayed in the Presidential Chalet for 3 nights, this contained a fire place & our own spa. We stayed here for a week to go snowboarding, with Turoa mountain only a half hour drive away. This place is very clean, really friendly staff and close to everything. Be prepaired though there is nothing much to do in Ohakune, the supermarket shuts at 7 and there is barely any shops. If you want nightlife, go to Queenstown. There... More
