This was my first backpacking trip with my girlfriend and I have to say I was pretty impressed with everything this hostel had to offer. The rooms are simple and poorly lit, this is true, but you're just using the rooms to sleep so who cares! The staff here are friendly and helpful, and the hostel network they're a part... More

This is a really big hostel, and has a great social atmosphere. The dorms are all I need: clean and simple, with nice big lockers. There's a really good bar/restaurant in the hostel, which was very convenient! Five star place. More

Stayed here for a night with my boyfriend. This at first hidden and extremely dark hostel sirprised us when we went and looked at the very clean bathrooms, the nice looking restaurant and terasse with a wonderful view, and the clean and spacious lounge area with many computers free for use. However the bedrooms look like small prison cells. In... More

This hostel looks like a jail from outside but it's safe. We had a dorm for two people and it was terrible, like a real cell. Nothing except the bed, not even stairs to climb to the upper bed!! You have to be very flexible to jump on it. No mirror, nothing. Just ugly dark brown walls and cold floors,... More

The building a gem, a huge hostel! but the pool is Disgusting, everything is ridiculously overpriced ( 7 dollars for a burger PLUS 2 dollars for the fries... are you serious? the burgers ARE good, but you can get them dirt cheap and JUST as good around the corner!) The bartenders are complete [--]. Example 1) signs everywhere saying "when... More

At the ripe old age of 33, I've decided I've had it with hostels. HOWEVER, for like $13/night you can't beat the Pangea for a conscious budget accommodation. We were 3 girls with about 40 hours to spend in San Jose before we flew out home. If you can, don't spend any time in San Jose. That, however, is a... More

We stayed at this hostel only on our first night in Costa Rica and even though we had booked another night there on our last night before our flight, we decided to forfeit our room even if it was already paid for. We had a large private room with ensuite washroom which was ok, but the night was so cold... More

The staff here is incredibly unhelpful and rude. They forgot to send a shuttle to pick us up at the airport, forgot to book a shuttle to monteverde for us when we reminded them twice, and charged for every little thing ($1 for a key, $5 to hold a bag, $5 for a remote, $ for a towel, etc.). Additionally,... More

If you want to party and sleep in ridiculously small private rooms, you are in luck. It is loud until midnight, perhaps beyond 12 depending on the crowd.  If you want the wifi to work consistently (only in common areas), you are not in luck. We stayed here different 3 times and often only 2 of 8 computers would work... More
