This is an amazing place. It's not expensive, and what you get is a clean, very spacious apartment (we squeezed 2 adults and 4 children into 1; and with the adults on a superking bed), lovely swimming pool, breakfast of whatever you want (speciality of the house: banana pancakes, but also toast, cereals, eggs, and fruit), and generous hosts. While... More

Why stay at a roadside shack surrounded by tourists when you can be just 20 minutes away surrounded by beautiful pastures, secondary rainforest and gorgeous mountain views with an abundance of peace and quiet dotted by the insects and frogs' nightly melody. That's the Blue Banyan Inn. It's a total respite from the touristy track of MA. Great grounds, birds,... More

We are just back from spending several days at the Blue Banyan Inn with a group of four families. Our group used two cabins and the upper two floors of the three story building. The kids ran around all over the place and had a blast. Chip was very helpful in setting up our trip, and Jim and Barb and... More

Spent two nights recently at this little bit of paradise. The hosts Jim and Barb are warm and friendly, just perfect hosts. The place is probably more like a B&B except one doesn't sleep in the hosts' house. We had a suite with two bedrooms. However, since there was only my wife and I we had it all to ourselves.... More

A group of 8 of us stayed at the Blue Banyan Jan 5-9 2012. Our group stayed in both the cabins as well as the larger and newer 3 story building. Unlike the reviewer 'Kallins' we had a lovely stay in the 3 story building. It was incredibly clean, well furnished, and an excellent place for a family. Jim and... More

We had such a fabulous time the first time we visited and returned with our friends. Barb and Jim are great hosts and so likable. We missed them this time as they were on their own vacation (they work hard with the monkeys they rehabilitate and deserve their vacation). We were the first guests after a few weeks of no... More

We stayed two nights in early January and found Blue Banyon enjoyably restful. There are three identical cottages. Simply decorated, and with unique stone showers. The beds -- well, they could be more comfortable -- and down comforters with duvets would be a great addition. I really dislike bedspreads -- knowing they aren't washed between guests. That said, sitting in... More

My husband and I were excited about our plans to travel to Costa Rica, but due to a family emergency, had to cancel our entire trip, including our stay at the Blue Banyan Inn. I want to thank the Blue Banyan for helping us as we rearrange our travel plans. I can't imagine booking a stay anywhere but here when... More

Unfortunately our stay at the “Blue Banian Inn” was not as expected. Having said that the location is very nice and quiet, the structure and his owners disappointed us. Our cottage looked shabby as the rest of the structure and a good clean at the hole place was needed. The first evening we discovered that we could not keep the... More

It is very unfortunate that our guest had a very bad experience at the BBI. As with all our guests we try very hard to make your stay a memorable one in a most positive sense. Unfortunately, in this case, it just didn't happen. On arrival our guest was very upset about his previous accomodation in Costa Rica and we... More

I would much prefer to post positive reviews, but I feel I must let you know about our experience at the Blue Banyan Inn. We were a party of 9 with 5 kids and 4 adults. We were told we would have an apartment for the adults and a room downstairs with bunkbeds for the kids. We were a bit... More

We are so sorry about your experience in the brand new building. We feel terrible about the smells, and we now have them resolved. The problem was that the building used new environmental technology for this country, both solar and low/high flush toilets. They are new here in Costa Rica and it was the first time the construction crew had... More
