The road into the town of Montezuma is steep! If you are on foot while staying in Montezuma be sure you stay at a place right in town. We were going to stay in a place "on the hill" but when we realized how steep the walk would be we were so happy to find La Aurora. It is located... More

We hadn't booked anything when arriving in Montezuma and looked at a few grotty but expensive hostels before we found this hotel. It was one of the best places we stayed at during our 3-week trip. The (a little disinterested but friendly) receptionist charged us a bit more than usual (happened to see the price of the same room on... More

La Aurora is downtown Montezuma and possible the first reasonable place you´ll find here once you´re dropped off at the busstop. And I must say, for 40 dollars a night (the cheapest room in 2012) you get a good matress, lots of hammocks and a hot shower. But that´s it. The ac didn´t work, the doublebed had a less soft... More

The La Aurora Hotel is the best hotel I have stayed at in Costa Rica. For $40, I got a room with two Queen size beds, two bathrooms - one with just a toilet and the other with a hot water shower and sink. The room was in good condition and clean - I even have a small refridgerator and... More

While the rooms are a bit sparse and the TV was totally not necessary (as it didn't really receive and channels), they were roomy, well chilled by the AC, clean, and had a refrigerator. The common areas are excellent with tons of hammocks, and the communal kitchen was a good way to save some money on food costs as well... More

I ended up in Montezuma on a whim and, having not done any research on where to stay, ended up getting a room at La Aurora. I stayed on the ground floor, park side. It was by far the worst place I stayed while in Costa Rica. It reeked of disinfectant, there were ants crawling around everywhere, the mattress had... More

We were here for just one night, and we stayed on the second floor in the room on the far right. Here's what we liked and disliked: likes: - refrigerator in room - room was large - two double beds & private bath - location was close to everything - hammocks - kitchen dislikes: - a bit run-down (i.e. a/c... La Aurora is a great value for the money. We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms, so I don't know how I'd feel if we got one of the expensive rooms, but they looked very nice. The hotel is located right on the park in the centre of Montezuma, so it's extremely central. This means there's night noise from... More

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It was clean and a great deal. The communal areas were great for socializing. The only complaint is that the walls are paper thin so if your neighbours are up early, you are too. As well, our room was right by the road so traffic kept us awake. More
