Our visit to Tortuguero and the Laguna Lodge was part of a vacation planned by Anywhere Costa Rica (see the seperate review of ACR). My best advice is, if you are insistent on seeing the Caribbean side of Costa Rica consider flying to Tortuguero! The Laguna Lodge is right near to the airstrip and all incoming/outgoing aircraft pass, very loudly,... More

My parents and I spent 3 nights there and enjoyed the whole experience greatly. I remember how charming it was canal boating... The hotel has a rustic feeling about it but it is nice and clean, comfortable and the food is very good. You can find some monkeys, racoons, birds and other animals in the communal areas and beautiful plants.... More

The Laguna Lodge is not the Ritz Carlton Resort. That should be obvious, but seems in some of the other reviews there may be an expectation problem, so just want to get that put there! What it is, is a clean and comfortable rustic lodge, located in the middle of a spectacular natural area. We stayed two nights at the... More

My husband and I stayed at Laguna Lodge as part of a Caravan tour of Costa Rica. The rustic cabins of the Lodge sit on the river in the front and the Caribbean in the rear. The cabins were spartan, but clean offering two beds, a dresser, and a bath with a shower. There is no air conditioning, just plenty... More

There are many options in this area and I'm not sure I would go with this establishment again. Yes it is family run, yes it is clear it supports the locals and is eco friendly BUT.... 1. the gift shop was a joke ... nothing in it. 2. the beds were harder than rocks 3. The fan in the room... More

Good weather certainly enhanced our visit to Laguna Lodge. It takes a rather long boat ride from the dock to get there and when the water in the river is low, even longer, but interesting all the same as you enter the jungle habitat. The covered boat seats about 20 people. Arrival of guests at the lodge is made special... More

Breath taking scenery with amazing rainforest tours. We went from sunrise to sunset but never felt rushed. You are made to slow down. There are no TV's/phones and the sun goes down at 6 pm. The sun rises on the Caribbean just outside our door. Rustic cabins with great food and service on a well maintained property. Love the pools.... More

No TV's/phones meant we slowed down. Early mornings were spent watching the sun rise on the Caribbean, just outside our door. Very satisfied with the food and service. Venture into the village to search for lower priced tour options. Take the 45 min walk along the sea back to the lodge. Unbelievable!!! Only Laguna & Mawamba Lodges are on the... More

Our two family group stayed for 2 nights and 3 days and had a nice time. The lodge and grounds are very well groomed and the pool was fabulous for the kids. It was really cool to be situated between the river and the ocean. The food was ok - seemed to be geared towards a group tour crowd and... More

We stayed at Laguna Lodge during our tour with Caravan Tours. I loved that you can only get to the lodge via boat! The Lodge is beautifully situated with the river on one side and the Caribbean on the other. We stayed for two nights in Room #1. The room was clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning but... More
