My wife and I recently did a 10 day Caravan Tour of Costa Rica. One of the attractions was the Laguna Lodge in the Tortuguero National Park. What intrigued me most was the mode of transportation to get to the lodge. We had been travelling on a spacious Mercedes bus up until now. But the only way to get to... More

Since its Tortuguero, you're stuck at your lodge with the same group for that trip. Our guide was really nice, and was knowledgeable about a lot of things. We had the room 83 witch was at the back of the field near the beach, so we could hear the wave at night. We had a spider and a lizard to... More

This is a beautiful part of Costa Rica and we were happy to be here. The rooms in the lodge were o.k. but we could hear everything from the room next door and their bathroom. We might as well have all been in the same room. A reminder to respect others privacy would be all it would take to make... More

This 'hard to get to' rustic lodge was my favorite lodging on our trip to Costa Rica. Grounds were beautifully groomed, lodge rooms sparse but very clean and comfortable, food was good, staff very friendly, lovely pool and close to both river and ocean. We could hear the ocean waves at night. The river guides were very good and we... More

We had a wonderful boat ride thru' the jungle on a sunny day to get to Laguna Lodge - there are no roads at all. We saw lots of unusual animals and birds, and our initial impression of the lodge itself was very good. It is between the river and the Caribbean Sea. The main buildings are attractive, and the... We stayed two nights at the Laguna Lodge and enjoyed them both very much. The lodging is certainly not fancy, but more than adequate when you consider that the lodge is located far off the beaten path, as in "there aren't any roads out there." All travel is by boat on the canals. Our room was very basic, with a... More

We were a group of 3 adults and 2 kids. The rooms are basic but just fine- laid out in buildings of 4-6 units each around the grounds. We had rooms up against the beach, which was nice. The kids loved the pool - it is large and has a bridge and a waterfall. There is a frog garden, and... More

As a lodge on the edge of a river in the jungle we didnt expect much regards accomodation and sadly werent disappointed! The gardens are really lovely, and there is a nice pool The rooms arent bad if basic, but the hot water supply was unreliable, and the food in the canteen like dining room was horrendous, with chicken cooked...
