Anything I say about the place is not enough. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. Here's why. My husband forgot his blackberry at the resort the day we left. We didn't realize it untill reaching the next destination Arenal (a 5 hour journey by boat+shuttle). Even as we searched our bags, wondering where we'd left... More

We are a family of four ranging in age from our 9 year old daughter and 12 year old son all the way up to 55 year old Dad. This was our highlight of two amazing weeks in Costa Rica where we stayed in 5 different locales. Why here? Nature – you are truly on the edge of a huge... More

We loved this place! We were there two nights and spent lots of time in the pool. Not only was it cooling but it was situated adjacent to the river so we could watch the boat traffic and even saw dolphins passing by. Three iguanas were sunning themselves on the grass next to the pool. Beautiful rooms and loved the... More

Dear Jessna, I was really excited to hear that you saw dolphins in the Tortuguero River while you were enjoying our pool. I've been traveling to Tortuguero for 26 years and I've never seen dolphin in the river. Our CEO, Michael Kaye has seen them only once and our Director of Naturalist Guides, Carlos Gomez has only seen them once.... More

We had a wonderful three night stay at this lodge on the river, just across the river from the local airstrip and beach. We took a long ride from San Jose, the last 30 min on dirt road, to a transfer port, where we moved to an hour boat ride past the Torteguero National Park and to our lodge. The... More

We spent 3.5 fabulous days here. This place could not have been better. It was very hot and humid when we were there. The fans helped and I am almost thankful there was no A/C as I never would have left the exceptional cabin. The Assistant Manager Syvia and all the staff were wonderful, and Angelo was just so skilled in... More

Our family spent four days here and saw an abundance of wildlife! We were paired with the same guide throughout our stay, which was really great because he could point us to birds and animals not seen on the previous days' adventures. He also spoke flawless English and had a scholar's knowledge of the rain forest and its inhabitants. Thank... More

That our four-day stay at Tortuga Lodge would be spectacular was pretty clear from the moment we landed at the small airstrip on our short charter flight from Arenal. Our group of nine got off the plane and walked 20 metres to a waiting boat for the 30-second ride across the river. As we approached the far bank, we could... More

We really enjoyed a 3 night stay here, primarily on a family wildlife holiday. Service was faultless from almost all the staff, although main desk management sometimes seemed a little offhand. As we had paid for a package of tours, we went on the river boat and kayaking tours, as well as hiking a little in the rain forest trails... More

I have told several people this and one has already made reservations with you. "If you only have a few days to spend in Costa Rica, Tortuga Lodge and Gardens is the place you must go. You will experience the parts of Costa Rica that people travel there to see...jungles, rivers, birds, animals, fishing, river touring, fishing and indigenious culture...... More
