Arriving in Tortuguero was like a scene from Jurassic Park, after we landed off the local transport (a boat through the canal) we instantly felt like we were in paradise. First impressions of Hotel El Icaco were really nice, hammocks outside to relax on, a ladder up a coconut tree free for the picking. The room we had was very... More

Anyone traveling to Tortuguero I would strongly recommend staying here. It was $25 a room (there were two of us), very clean, they changed the sheets and gave us fresh towels each day. You are right by the beach and a short walk to town so its nice and quiet. There were hammocks you can lie in and hear the... More

I travelled to Tortuguero with the intention of seeing turtles, supposedly one type laying their eggs right now.The hotel staff were lovely, very welcoming and happy to help, but the room was average especially for the price.Lovely breakfast in the morn tho and the owners son walked me to the boat and carried my bag.Hammocks are very cool too.But no turtles, and... We stayed here for 4 nights whilst in Tortugero after having it recommended by a friend and very glad we did. The place is run by friendly staff, is clean and well equipped. Its not a luxurious hotel but has everything you would expect for the price. My only complaint is that we paid for a private room with hot... More

This hostel is great value for money. It's basic, but clean and cheap with friendly and helpful service. It's a little out of town, but you're by the beach so it's fantastic. You should definitely spend at least 2 nights here in order to take in the National Park and really relax. More

We had two families and some tag a longs giving us a large crowd of 14 people which stayed at the Hotel. The Hotel arranged everything including our transportation and tours and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Additionally, they were really accommodating with the food and our strange diet restrictions. I would recommend this for... More

Hotel is right next to the beach but on the contrary it is about 8 minutes walk away from the city centre. I wouldn't recommand walking this path alone in the dark. The rooms are clean and basic, you have everything you need. I did hang up my mosquito net because there were some holes in the nets attached to... More

Close to the beach makes it a popular hostel. The rooms are simple and ok. We had a room with three beds, one was to soft, one to hard and the last was both, Depending on which side you choose to sleep on. None was actually nice but the staff woke you up with their outdoor cleaning around 7am anyway.... More

Excellent. Great value. Great location. Currently sitting in the covered area looking out at the surf and beautiful garden. To find it head for miss Miriam 2 and turn right along the beach. Also can recommend the owners cousin Roberto Kuluchs Tours for a canoe tour. More

Stayed two nights from Oct 26-27. We arrived Tortugero village without any booking. Checked around a few places in the centre first. Later we came to El Icaco and promptly decided to stay here. The hostel was right in front of the beach where you could get up as early as 0500 to see the baby turtle!! We were stayed... More
