My daughter and I loved our stay @ El Sabanero! The place is so peaceful & quiet...high up on a hill with our own private cabin and a beautiful view of the valley & mountains. There was always a nice breeze way up there and in the evening you could either hear howler monkeys above or cows & horses below.... More

We stayed at the El Sabanero Eco Lodge for a week last month and loved every minute of our stay. Our hosts, Donald and Hazel, became fast friends as they helped us arrange a rental car and made suggestions on where to eat and what activities were fun. We ate dinner at the lodge one evening and got to sample... More

El Sabanero has a very relaxed atmosphere and it almost felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The views were outstanding! Cabinas were private and very clean and comfortable. The ladies who clean the rooms were wonderful and very detail oriented. Breakfast was outrageous with everything freshly made. The location was perfect: not right in town but close... More

We stayed at El Sabanero in March and had a wonderful stay. Every member of the staff were very kind and accommodating. Breakfast was always full of fresh fruit and terrific coffee. Donald made fabulous dinners for us every night. The Lodge is on a hill overlooking a pretty valley. We would look at the view from the end of... More

There's a good reason El Sabanero Eco Lodge gets top ratings on TripAdvisor. In a nutshell, the location is convenient and beautiful, the private cabinas are wonderful, the service is top-notch, the food is out-of-this-world, the atmosphere is laid back and comfortable, and you can get it all for about the price of a Motel 6 in the United States.... My stay at El Sabanero What can you say when you arrive at a place and get a cold drink handed to you, and a warm welcome? I don’t know about anyone else, but I say “ I think this is going to be a great place to stay.” El Sabanero went beyond my expectations. It is nestled up top... More

Just spent 8 nights at El Sabanero. Worth the effort to find this gem. The owner and the management make you feel right at home. The setting is delightful ;it is out of town and away from the hub-bub. Beaches are not too fr. ( DO ask about the route that avoids driving through a river!) The sunset chorus of... More

I highly recommend this place. Everything was wonderful. I loved the rustic cabins and it was so peaceful. Its a 20 minute (1$) bus ride to Tamarindo but so worth being away from the busy touristy town. The staff was also really great and friendly. The dinners were spectacular, I recommend eating here way more than somewhere in town! The... More

Ok, you'd better have a car if you'll stay here, since it is at least 10 k from anything interesting around (coast), but therefore it is not overcrowded and very relaxed. We (family of 4) loved it, the laid back atmosphere, the spacious terrace and the swimming pool (nice views), the genuine friendliness of the staff, the pets and the... More
