We booked nine months ago to avoid problems and after a long flight from Canada, the owner had lost our reservation. He put us up in a non view room on the busy road. The room was basic at least and noisy as [--]. Having no space he recommended we go to a hotel down the street which was an... More

Stayed here twice when Witch's Rock was full. Both times I've really enjoyed my stay. Cedric and family really make you feel welcome. It's a great simple hotel that has everything you need, perfect place if you are spending your days surfing in CR. Not a five star hotel, but I've been pleased both times I've stayed there. More

We stayed here one night when the electricity in our rental house went out. It was the only vacancy we could find at 9:00 at night. If you stay here for the location and don't really care about a decent room, you'll probably be alright, but this was by far the worst hotel we stayed in during our 2 months... More

what a great place to get away from it all. very relaxed, very simple, very beautiful and really easy access to the beach and river mouth surf break. management create a personal and easy atmosphere and the food in the french bakery next door is great. would go again in a heart beat. This certainly isn't a terrible place but I think the reviews such as the one in the Lonely Planet guide that convinced us to stay here might be a bit dated. We left with a very sour taste after the owner refused to let us leave a night early without paying for the unused night. The place was nearly empty... More

We departed Arenal for Tamarindo on a Friday. We had heard that the "whole town" goes to Vista Villas on Friday nights (across the street from Cocodrilo), so we spent our first 2 nights there (the weekend). By Sunday when we checked out, I was ready to leap from our balcony if I heard any more booming Reggae music at... More

We stayed for just under a week in two rooms. We were traveling with two very small children and are all avid surfers. The ocean view in the one room was stunning. It had a large balcony which was awesome for storing our surfboards and wet things. When we first arrived there was a smell in the one room -... More
