I stayed at JIA last weekend after seeing there was a promotion rate of only 1000 yuan at the moment. I normally shop around when going to Shanghai and try and get a deal in a big branded five star place, but saw this deal and thought I'd give it a go. It took a bit of finding, but once... More

I really disliked staying here. It was a boutique hotel without the usual things you'd expect from a big name hotel like the Peninsula or Hyatt but it also didn't have a sufficient amount of charm to make up for it. The lobby was entirely unimpressive and very small. Breakfast was like a meal in North Korea (i.e., very little... More

Our last night in Shanghai, we checked out of the Langham Yangtze because we were able to get Jia for a pretty reasonable rate. Also want to check out another boutique in town. Location. Almost as good as the Langham Yangtze. Even though it's in an another art deco building/landmark, it's right next to a mall and 3 minutes walk... More

Stayed in a Studio Plus and found the experience rather interesting. Arrived at the hotel and took us a while to figure out where's the door. It's dark, almost everywhere and most esp when you step out of the lift on the room floors. Interesting decor. I especially like the resturant, it has a old Shanghai feel to it. The... More

Everything is fine until my taxi arrangement by bell boy to airport. I request for a big taxi, he just arranged a taxi he know and can get commission from (I saw driver pass him money), by the time I did not take that taxi and want to get another taxi, he dragged my luggage ignored all steps, make me... I like JIA's modern style, simplicity and little knick knacks around the room. The location was an 8 minute walk from the office and was just across my favorite place to get a sea salt latte! Will definitely come back to stay. More

I've been in SHanghai for a good long time, but only just came across JIA Shanghai when they moved the lobby to involve the entrance to the restaurant Issimo. I've been going to Issimo for ages where they do a good lunch deal, but never realized there was a hotel there as well. So when my colleagues from the US... More

Summary: There are only 55 rooms in this beautiful hotel, housed within four floors of a well-preserved art-deco building. We loved the hotel's concept of a home-away-from-home ("Jia" meaning home in Mandarin Chinese), and the contemporary design of the hotel. The rooms are beautifully designed, well maintained, and spotlessly clean. We love: lots of inclusions ... free wifi everywhere within... More

Each time in Shanghai we stay in Jia, so also in March this year. The hotel was currently on rebuilding / rennovating, but we weren't really disturbed. Only once one could smell really penetrating lack smell. The service in the lobby is good as usual. We were a little bit disappointed with bar/restaurant service this time ( perhaps they were... Intimate boutique hotel with delightful staff. Enjoy the third floor lounge with unlimited snacks and beverages incl wine and beer between 6-8pm. Cool modern design. Nice fitness center equipment though small. No nickel and diming, even the washing machine is free. Excellent alternative to the massive chains found throughout the city. More
