i stayed in the mandarin hotel in 2011 found the staff very polite and helpfull situated very close to three good shopping centers,great resturant just over the road,good buffet breakfast but i would not rate it as 4 star more like 3 i even walked to the jade buddha plenty going on at night you just have to look and... Having travelled through China for four weeks in October we experienced some really good hotels - this was however by far the worst! We stayed here for 3 nights. Overall a great experience. The front desk staff were helpful. The breakfast buffet was pretty good. Rooms were nice and clean. Rooms included two free bottles of water, a mini bar, large bathroom with bathtub, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, handcream. TV was alright with BBC and HBO in English. Very nice hotel with good service.

I took a chance on this newly opened (last oct) property when I was last in Shanghai. The room I had (1717) was more like a suite! It was spacious, clean and quiet. And, at around $56 USD including a buffet breaky, was good value. The only real downside for me is it's location. It is not near the subway... More
