Was in Shanghai last April after absence of over 10 years, stayed in this renovated 3 star hotel which is near to Hongqiao airport and high speed rail station. It's very convenient to nearby Xujiahui where there are many new shopping malls with good clsss restaurants. Room rate comes with ABF which is acceptable but repeatitive throughout my 3 nites...

i've stayed in this hotel several times on different occations, it is close to the hongqiao airport which makes its location very attractive. Moreover,it is not in the airport but in a populated area and with a shopping mall at about 15 minutes walk (pearl city).
it is built flat as a 2-3 floors high building not more- the adventage...

This is sort of a hidden hotel in the hongqiao area. I only booked this hotel because I have family members living in hongqiao area. Some cab drivers don't even know this hotel! This is a three star hotel and it serves like a three star.
Overall, it's a different kind of hotel because it is not high rise buildings...

Shanghai has thousands of hotels ranging from very old-world European hotels from Shanghai's Golden Age in the Bund, to trendy boutique hotels in Pudong, to scruffy hostels and flophouses. The New Garden Hotel is a special hotel in a town full of them.
