Astor House is situated in the old English Concession disttrict. My husband and I stayed in a penthouse room overlooking the Palace Hotel and the Bund. The room was very spacious and comfortable with no noise from outside or within the hotel. Astor House is very historic with lots of character. From the time we stepped into the grand lobby,... More

A friend and I stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of a trip round China. Our room was on the 4th floor, and was incredibly spacious, as was the bathroom. We didn't experience any traffic noise, but as the floorboards are wooden, you can hear people walking along the corridor outside and the room above. We... More

Stayed here on the last two days of a business trip, I normally use Hiltons as they have very good business facilities, but a friend booked me in here as it was a good location fo the Bund. I was upgraded to a large room, and they are very big, but there is a lot of road noise, although the... More

We stayed at the Astor House whilst attending the 2012 Chinese Grand Prix. Located right on the bund, about one hour from Pudong airport, this place is right where you want to be if visiting the city. Yes, it's old, but hey, you know that already, so expecting Hilton or Shangri La type facilities is unwise. Having said that, the... More

Four of us, two couples, stayed in this hotel for 5 nights at the end of our 2 week stay in China. The main reasons we picked this hotel were that it was the oldest hotel in Changhai which had a great central location and offered all the facilities that we wanted. When we booked in, the service was excellent.... More

The history of this hotel is pretty interesting as can be seen by the list of her famous guests from China and abroad. I couldn't help feeling myself transported back in time though i am not a great fan of old hotels. The rooms have been nicely refurbished and tastely decorated. The upgraded room that they gave us was big... More

We reserved two rooms in advance and were not disappointed. Location is great for walk to Bund and Nanjing Road. If you love history and preservation of special places this is a must. Our rooms were well appointed with private baths - quite nice. Great views from windows that actually opened. One room had beautiful wide plank hardwood. Large rooms.... More

An old style British type of hotel with excellent service in the luxurious dining room, large and spotless rooms and a fantastic location. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the dining room and the buffet breakfast had a huge choice of food. The staff was very helpful. Everything said, it was a wonderful experience.

We stayed here for several days in April 2012, and enjoyed the stay. We had a first room that was huge and clean, but very noisy from street noise and renovation work in the hotel (definitely needs an extensive rehab), but we changed to a room on a higher floor that was much nicer, spacious and quiet. The lobby, upstairs... More

Well maintained hotel with loads of atmosphere from Shanghai of 100 years ago. Memorable stay. We got upgraded on check in into a lovely, big room with walk in closet and good sized bath. Had lots of character with wood floors, high ceilings, old ballroom for breakfast room and lots of history from its heyday. Great location at the top... More
