I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a club room, which was just fantastic. The entire hotel was exceptionally clean, and the staff was helpful and accommodating. Add to that the terrific location and you have a winner! Hope to return soon. K

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2012 as part of a Viking River Cruise tour. The hotel itself is everything you would expect a 5 star Ritz Carlton to be, as far as the rooms and amenities are concerned. However both we and our tour group commented on the disappointing level of service especially in the 'Tables' restaurant.... More

If all you see is this hotel, you have not seen Shanghai. Very comfortable and great for a business trip but no Asian flavor. Staff was very business-like. The concierge was not very helpful - not typical for a Ritz. Location in high end shopping area... comfortable but sterile.

Nice place and rooms are well maintained despite age. Swimming pool is soso and not so fun for kids. Nice bar to have a drink and listen to the band. Good location and right in the midst.

I was glad that we chose the Portman Ritz-Carlton. This was our first trip to Shanghai, staying at the Ritz makes a lot of difference. we stayed there for three days in march 2012. great hotel. well located. a bit pricey is the only negative. you can't go wrong with staying here.
