Hotel style with a restaurant downstairs. One waitress speaks English, they advertise breakfast but don't actually have any. Why is it on the menu then? Breakfast can be a a real challenge in China unless you can stomach Chinese food for your first meal. Quite far from the Bund and French Concession to walk unless you take the tube (but... More

I stayed here after extending a work trip for some sightseeing. The hotel is in a lovely street, mainly pedestrianised, close to a market with yummy streetfood. Its a 10 minute walk to the tube, but you get to choose form 3 different stops making the location very well connected. Walking to the tube is comfortable and safe. Altogether a... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in November 2012. We were very excited after reading reviews and seeing pictures. Based on the pictures we didn't want a room with mattresses on the floor (basic room) but one with a nice big bed such as in the picture. We booked a queen superior room, expecting nothing less than... More

Stayed at Koala Garden for two nights, our room was considerably nice and comfortable. The decoration of room was colorful and richly spacious. The location located next to the metro and shopping center, staffs arranged us a city trip and flight ticket, too. They had the breakfast: simple but lovely and included with the room rate. The hotel was a smart... More

The staff in the reception area were very friendly and helpful. They opened a bottle of wine for me (although it really did look like it was the first time they had used a corkscrew!). We were a bit disppointed by the private room itself. It was very small for the price. The hostel is on a quiet street (with... More

Thought this was a hostel, but more like a B&B - without the breakfast of course Rooms were nice and cozy. Suited me fine The building looked really nice and well maintained and it is in the duolun culture street with its cobblestoned street. Convenient to metro - 15 minutes away from Bund/People's square Staff - quite friendly and helpful.... More

Stayed here for 5 nights and would definitely recommend the koala! Came with my boyfriend and we shared a dorm of 6, slightly small rooms, but we did see some of the doubles and bigger rooms and they looked pretty good. Very cosy atmosphere and decorating, however, we found that it was reasonably quiet and for a few of the... More

The Koala is located in a nice, historic street in the north of Shanghai. It is a bit far from the metro station. There are in fact two stations nearby and yet both are about 15 minutes walk away. Staff are friendly and one of them tried to help us to book our train tickets from the office near to... More

We had a double room which was small with no natural lighting, but very tastefully done and quirky. The cafe/restaurant was comfortable with a good stab at Western food and decent, fairly priced cocktails. Location right on Duo Lun Road which has been redone to 1920's Chinese style is picturesque, and is only 10 minutes away from the stadium which... More

Overall feeling: Average, below expectation. It has been transfered from an old house, hence it has nice feeling when you walk in. The room not feels as nice as showing on the picture. Location: quite nice. It's about 10 minutes walk from the nearest MRT(Metro) station- line 3. but it's very close by a shopping area (SiChuan Road) as well as... More
