we stayed a few nights at beachcomber, the island is stunning you can swim around in 20 minutes or less but after staying at Mantaray Bay it is difficult to rave about Beachcomber. the food is buffet and not nearly as good as mantaray and teh staff wasn't as friendly (they knew eadch of us by name by the end... I have spent a while in Fiji working and on the weekends visited a few island resorts andBeachcomber was one I was looking forward to, However its let down by the unfriendly and kinda lazy staff who seem treat you like a hassle to them. the food was also below the standard of the other islands and prices were higher... we only visited the island for a day. scuba diving was the occation. we were in for a whole lot of waiting that day. ok, its vacation and its paradise and one should take it slow, but that was one notch too much. we waited for the diveguids to get in the boat, we waited for the equipment to be... spent 3 nights here over new year - the island went from being fully booked to a lot quieter after new year! This was the only island we stayed at who didnt do a welcome song for us when we arrived Stayed in the dorm, these are split in to girls and guys and then again in to smaller sections,... More

Being less an hour off the mainland you would expect this to be one of the cheaper places to stay for young travellers but its not. For what you get on Beachcomber one night is more than enough. Looking back I cant actually fathom why people would spend anymore than one to two nights here maximum. The resort lives off... More

PROS: This was definitely the most westernized of islands we did. Nice staff. Food options were much better/varied than other resorts we stayed at. Free snorkeling for guests. Close to mainland - only about 1h or so. Electricity stays on 24hrs (something we didn't have at any other island which was nice to have a fan all night!). CONS: Very... More

We visited Beachcomber on a day trip and were appalled by the smell of the beach from 100 metres away. Taking a look at the island the beach was unusable from seaweed, rubbish and coral and the walkways decaying and untidy. From what I understand Beachcomber had a wonderful reputation until the new owners recently took over and seem to... More

This place had everything needed for a party and a nice stay, and all on an island the size of a two rugby fields. Staff were super friendly. The food could of been better at lunch and dinner, but breakfast was superb, making omelette's at your disposal. Lovely. There was lots to do on such a small island. The bar... More

From the minute we arrived, our experience was a bad one. Despite repeated requests to be shown to our room we were waved away and told to come back after lunch and they would look after our bags. Looking after our bags involved them leaving them on the beach for anyone to help themselves!! We went to lunch and it... More

I'm sure in the 70's this resort was unbelievable. However, 40 years later we generally expect a little more than dated brown tiles and fibreglass showers. This resort is known as the party island. While the resort is old and the Bures need refurbishing (nothing like the ones in the Yasawa Islands at Octopus Resort or Blue Lagoon), we chose... More
