we decided to stay in Mumbai for a couple of days after travelling from Dublin and thought as we were going to stay in cheaper accommodation in Goa, we would spend alot more and stay in this hotel. it cost as much to stay here for 3 days as it would to stay in a beach hut in Goa for... More

I am a solo traveler and I booked the hotel on line. It was the most horrible experience. Rooms are filthy I asked them to change the room the other one was the same. They explained me that they did not have much solo travellers so the rooms are not used much! That night the lift was broken and it... More

I arrived in Mumbai without a reservation and headed for Colaba expecting to find plenty of budget options. Bad move. There are very few places below 1000R But quite a lot in the +4000R category. So after an extensive search the 2 cheapest options I could find were a dorm bed or The Strand at 3500R (apx) a night. It... More

We stayed 1 day at this hotel. The room was big and clean enough. The service is terrible. 1) the boy went to buy a bottle of beer, so we payed. After we get the bottle of beer, the boy came back saying the money we gave is ripped so he wants to us to change. The money we had... More

The Strand is an OK place to stay if you want to see mumbai and have a base. It is on the same road as the Taj Palace so the location is great. The Gateway of India is about 3 mins walk up the road. The Strand itself is a little worn to be honest. It could do with a... More

hy go there? Because of the location. Why not going there? 1. The rooms were very smelly. Every time we put on the AC, which was needed because of the heat, a smell of urine came into our room. As the AC was 30cm from the pillows in our beds, it was awful. 2. The rooms (downstairs) are very noisy.... More

This hotel is certainly over priced for what it is, however we have no faults with our stay. Location is excellent. It is on the same road as the famous Taj Mahal Palace hotel and is in view of the Gateway of India and is on the sea/harbour front, so if you have the front bedrooms, the view is fantastic.... More

I was slightly disappointed. Simple things were missing that should be basics in any hotel. We were told that only 1 towel per room is given. Tea is not served in the room, we need to go to the dining hall for tea. Food was decent, served buffet style in the dining hall. More

On arrival the manger at front desk was very grumpy and unpleasant despite us already having a booking online. Room was clean enough but for the price of the room (around Rs.3500/night) it could have been much cleaner. Our shower head had 4 streams coming out of it which i had to fix with a pin. The basin tap would... More

It is a wonderful location to stay at Mumbai, and considering the rates it is not so costly too. ....You are staying a look away from The Taj mahal and Gate way of India. Facilities are vintage and probably the maintenance is just for sustenance. Services are hardly any to offer than the dire necessities. But of course it is... More
