This was the best hotel in our tour. Nice staff; refreshing welcome drinks; specious and clean rooms and bathroom, huge comfortable beds; clean big pool; good buffet breakfast with international and Sri Lankan food. More

We stayed here as part of a tour of Sri Lanka for one night. We didn't use the pool facilities. The food here was amazing! Plenty of choice and something for all tastes. The dessert selection was huge! The rooms were massive and the beds really comfy. It was a nice hotel for one night but not sure we would... More

The hotel is an old colonial reseidence and has lots of charm. The staff is very friendly and efficient but lacks a little bit english language. The rooms are large and the beds are very comfortable, but the sitting area with colonial chairs is difficult to the back and we ended up sitting on coussins on the floor. The internet... More

Frequented by large tourist groups, this otherwise perfectly acceptable tourist class hotel is let down by its poor attention to guest comfort -  a few examples, of an evening the independent guest is forced to either dine in the small section of the restuarant not being used by groups, where a live pianist unsucessfully competes with the live band laid... This hotel has a lot of old-world charm, from the colonial-style furnishings right down to the grizzled old veteran manning the snooker room (watch out for his stern lectures on your cue-holding style if you book a snooker session). A relaxing time was had by all, the quality of the food was decent (watch out for the mad rush to... More

Our travel agency selected this hotel for us (2 nights, B&B) as part of a one-week private tour during last week of December 2011. The hotel colonial architecture is really unique and the location by the Mahaweli river is just perfect. Swimming pool is fine. The overall atmosphere is really relaxing. Rooms are very large, well fitted, clean and very... More

We stayed for 2 nights half board as part of an organised tour during early December 2011. We were given a fantastic room overlooking the river. The swimming pool is stunning. Such a photogenic hotel. Great food in the retaurant. This and the Mount Lavinia Hotel were the best 2 hotels of our holiday. Only possible downside is that they... More

We booked into this hotel for two nights over New Years as part of a two week private tour. We generally go for smaller hotels but thought that if we wanted any sort of party atmosphere it might be better to go for a larger place. On arrival we were asked to wait for a good 10/15 minutes before being... More

Booked through their website, however upon our arrival there were no records of our booking even though a hotel representative has called us to confirm the booking. During the confirmation process we were offered $40 discount to the advertised rate (which we did not expect, nor asked for) which we obviously agreed to. However, when we were arranging the payment... More

It was our wedding aniversary & we decided to celebrate it at the mahaweli reach. We arrived at the hotel around 18:15hrs. The hotel and the surrounding was absolutey beautiful. As we were so hungry after a long drive. We asked a restaurant manager for an alacrte menu. The answer was sorry we cant serve any food until 19:30hrs. Then... More
