I've stayed at the PGVH 2 times in the last 4 months. The grounds are truly lovely. It's expansive, lush and very serene. I run around the grounds in the morning and it's about 1.2km if you run around the outer ring road. To echo the other reviews, the rooms are tired and in dire need of a face lift.... More

This is probably the best hotel around. It build around a nice park, it has a great swimming pool and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The price is a bit steep, but we thought it is worthwhile, More

We just stayed one night but thoroughly enjoyed the comfort and location. We had a bungalow by the pool and close to the restaurant and bar; and it was well equipped and very comfortable. Unfortunately because it was Independence day the bar was closed. As the bar was the only area with wi-fi it meant sitting in frustratingly in a... More

I support comments by other reviewers that the grounds and pool are beautiful and the bar/reception area impressive. It's a pity that the rest of the hotel doesn't match first impressions. The rooms are tired and very much in need of renovation. The showers are particularly poor with only a trickle of hot water. Sheets are worn, towels frayed, light... More

The whole setting of the hotel is wonderfull - its like staying in a botanical garden. The pool is one of the finest I have ever seen. There is only one drawback and this is the restaurant. They cant do western food and the asian cuisine is adapted to the taste of the package tours. If you do not choose... More

The ground of the hotel is very beautiful. It's situated in the forest with lake and amazing pool. Each room is in separate building and you have your privacy as much as you wish. The service is very good. There are always a couple of "but". But, the rooms are tired, specially the shower. They should be renovated and ASAP.... More

We stayed here for one night as part of an independent tour. Would have like to have stayed longer. The hotel comprises a number of bungalows set in very beautiful, tranquil gardens, spaciously laid out. We stayed in a room that was part of a block of three, 150, which was fairly close to the restaurant, bar and other facilities.... More

Echoing other travellers comments, we found the house-keeping to be spotless. The bedrooms are traditionally decorated/furnished but the bathrooms are in a serious need of modernisation. The hotel is 14 years old !! The bedding was grey and old, and the towels were old and thin. The gardens were superb and well tended, and the swimming pool was perfect, and... More

According to Lonely Planet, this is a top hotel in Anuradhapura. If so, other accommodations in the town must be really, really bad than. Our first impression, however was very positive. The hotel is situated in a beautiful green garden. The reception building is semi-colonial architecture and is very nicely decorated. We were welcomed with a drink and hot towels.... More

I visited this hotel in 2011 and had an amazing time. Great location for the ancient city; friendly staff; AMAZING pool and gardens; excellent rooms and an inspirational story behind the hotel's genesis and, more specifically, the stunning arboretum in which it lies. Highly recommended. More
