We really enjoyed our stay in Huaraz! Jo's Place is a very nice hostel with great view on the mountains. Our double room was very big and the shower hot. It was a bit cold though and not a 100percent clean. (but totally fine for backpacking people!) As we wanted to go on some hiking tours, the owners of Jo's... More

girlfriend and i stayed here over new years and had a fantastic time - in large part due to jo. he was always there to greet you in the morning and help you with your outdoor plans for the day. be forewarned in the rainy season, if you're not out the gate by 7am, in the words of jo "you're... More

Jo's Place is located a little bit outside of the center of Huaraz (it's a short walk to the Plaza de Armas). From the courtyard (and some of the rooms) it offers and amazing view of the area. All the rooms are very affordable, and you are even allowed to camp in the courtyard. Jo knows a lot about the... More

This hostel is about 20 minutes walk from the city centre. The rooms are good, and the shared shower always had hot water. There is a nice garden in the centre but the place would feel very cramped if you were camping there. There is a place to cook and a terrace with tables. However, the shared areas are not... More

We're not hardcore trekkers but wanted to spend a few days in the mountains. Jo and Vicky couldn't have been sweeter or more helpful. Had a room with a double bed and ensuite - hot water whenever, and a balcony with amazing views. Nice terrace to hang out on, and great breakfasts. Best value and most characterful place we've stayed... More

Such a quirky little place. Really colourful and a nice combination with a big lawn for camping, small single and double rooms and a couple of dorms. The multiple stair cases get you fit in the high altitude pretty quickly! They fixed the hot water as soon as we mentioned it wasn't working. Everything was clean although remember to ask... More

Stayed there for two nights. It is less of a hostel more of a guesthouse for campers and trekkers and when I arrived the entire lawn was full of tents. Room I was in was not ensuite and didn´t even have a sink. Also the other guest in the room cooked his breakfast lunch and dinner on a gas stove... More

I stayed at Jo's place last year - and have consistently recommended it as the place to stay in Huaraz. The owners are a lovely couple, so helpful in every way. They are incredibly trustworthy, unlike many spots in South America. I had no qualms leaving my valuables with them for 2 weeks when I went off trekking. They are... More
