We spent the past three weeks (in May 2012) traveling in South America - mostly Peru. The Sumaq Hotel, along with my tour company (Monica at Go2Peru.com) for the Cuzco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu portion of our trip pulled off the greatest event I could've imagined. The hotel staff (especially Alicia) arranged and executed a surprise Inca-style wedding for... More

On the banks of the Urubamba River, a lovely hotel.. spacious room, nice balcony ( the river can be louder than the surf following a heavy rain... we found it to be delightful ), Lovely breakfast, best Pisco Sours in Peru ( even got a course on how to assemble one ). 3 block walk from the town of Aguas... Visited Machu Picchu in May 2012. Collette tours took us to Auga Caliente at the foot of Machu Picchu to a 5 star Hotel called Sumaq. The chef is trained in France and written up in gourmet magazines. I truely did not expect to fine such a fine hotel and resturant in the middle of Peru. We had a lovely,... More

My wife and I just got back from a 10 day trip to Lima/Cuzco/Machu Picchu/Sacred Valley and loved every minute of it. All of the hotels we stayed in were due to recommendations from tripadvisor. Duo in Lima, Monasterio in Cuzco, Sumaq in Aguas Calientes/Machu Picchu, and Tambo del Inka in the Sacred Valley. We both agree that by far... More

This was a great experience. The hotel is beautiful and very well located; we arranged to have the bus to Machu Picchu pick us up in front since they drive right by. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are very spacious and modern, the views are great from the balcony. They had a wonderful dinner and just as great breakfast.... More

Outstanding chef merits special mention! Breakfast buffet had so many special choices and touches that it was truly memorable. Dinner was impressive. My sister and I shared a huge room, 5th floor far left end of the hotel, that had an outside balcony with views of the river and the jungle. The Machu Picchu bus will pick up, and upon... More

Very nice hotel. Not really worth the $400+ cost per night but very nice.

I really don't know where to begin. My Mom and I took a trip to Machu Picchu (gift from my brother) and we stayed at The Sumaq Hotel. We were immediately impressed with the way the hotel looked as we drove up as well as the decor inside, absolutely gorgeous. We were told to sit down in the reception area... More

Outstanding service, excellent food, fab rooms & linens, and a great location at the quiet end of town along the river make this the best hotel in the Machu Picchu area. Also, in the morning the bus to Machu Picchu picks you up right at your front door, rather than having to walk to the upper end of town to... More
