Lovely staff and ok food, but the camp is still in the 1990s and really is not worth the price. It's too hot - there wasn't a breath of a breeze all day: plunge pools outside every tent - like Elephant Bedroom in Samburu - would be one answer. These can be covered by canvas when not in use, to... More

We are sorry that while you were at Galdessa weather was so hot , April is usually the hottest time of the year, you have been very unlucky as it is very unusual to have days without any breeze blowing through the camp. I have also experienced the same problem, one week ago and we have decided to lower the... More

this is a beautiful, quiet camp nestled on a bluff above the galana river. this is a luxurious camp so the word tent is used loosely. the tent was inviting and as silly as it may sound, the bathroom and open shower was magnificent. each cottage was private. there are no complaints regarding the tented cottage. situated on the river,... We chose Galdessa for our first safari based on TripAdvisor reviews (we booked independently). We spent 3 nights at the camp and then went to their sister property Alfajiri along the coast. Galdessa was fantastic. Syvlia the manager was incredibly attentive, and the game drives and walking safaris were unforgettable. The lodge is small which makes it very intimate, and... More

We stayed here in January 2013 and had a marvellous time. We had experienced problems with our car breaking down in Ambrosilia camp and had to wait for another driver to come and collect us from there to reach Galdessa meaning we were late for lunch. Not a problem - a beautiful lunch was served. The evening safari had to... More

Stayed here nearly a year ago now, It is a lovely safari camp site, no fences so you are at one with nature. The owner is Italian and is very professional, she greeted us upon arrival and all the staff were also very professional and helpful. The food here is out of this world! To say it's far away from... The scenery and service were very good! It is nice to be staying a a lodge so closde to the Tsavo river. The style and architecture are beautiful. The food was very good. But sorry: this is a basic place with nice ideas, but far from perfect and thus far from the prices they ask! One may agree that WiFi,... More

I am not in the picture what you have been charged by the agent that organized your trip to Galdessa, but considering that our rack rates are 196 Euro per person sharing in pick season inclusive of FB accommodation , afternoon tea and coffee and a walking safaris , I can assure you that we are not overpriced. Keep in... More

We enjoyed an idyllic couple of days at Galdessa in December. We stayed in the private camp using all three tents, including the honeymoon suite, which were all comfortable and well equipped with large beds. It is difficult to describe the magic of sleeping safely under the stars and feeing so close to the animals. At night the camp is... More

We can absolutely see why there are slightly mixed reviews of this camp. What is beyond debate is that the location is unbeatable - the camp boasts a magical position on the banks of the Galana River framed by the Yatta Plateau in the background. We stayed for two nights in the main camp before moving to the private side... More

What a fantastic experience. We (a couple & 5-year old son) only stayed one night due to a very short visit to Kenya. And our only regret is not having longer to stay at Galdessa. We opted for the extra expense of Private Camp (just 3 'tents') & thus had it entirely to ourselves (I didn't expect to, but it... More

We stayed for one night at Galdessa at their Honeymoon Suite. It was an exceptional stay. Everything was perfect. Super attentive staff, great food, amazing views over the river and close encounters with elephants and monkeys. The huge and super comfortable bed allowed for a good nights sleep. The platform next to our tent with the sofa on top was... More

Galdessa offers the ultimate wilderness experience. With its elegant thatch-and-canvas tents overlooking the meandering waters of the Galana River, Galdessa offers the ultimate ‘bush style’ in one of East Africa’s wildest, secluded and unspoiled locations. Galdessa sits beneath giant doum palms, 15 kilometres upstream from Lugard’s Falls, in the heart of Tsavo East National Park.
