huge impersonal hotel, but staff very helpful and friendly specially the dining hall waiters, always joking and trying to be super smart. witnessed a unpleasant scene on 9th May early morning in the main dining hall while guests were having breakfast, where the Manager abused and slapped a waiter in front of everyone. This sort of thing does not happen... More

Gosh this brought back memories of travelling in the Soviet Union in the 70s. Even down to the woman sitting on the floor checking out who went to the rooms. Although she was far more friendlier than the Russians were. Well what can I say about the room? The fridge worked. And there was a bath so I could have... More

Uzbekistan is an average place to be called. Before coming over to this hotel I checked the reviews online and found out Grand Bukhara to be a mediocre one but quite ok for my stay with few of my colleagues. For bachelors like us the hotel worked out well but it’s surely a big no for a family stay. The... More

The Grand Bukhara is steeped in the bad bits of Soviet heritage - big, souless and serviceless. Full of security teams for visiting minor dignitaries, the hotel elevators were often unavailable for use and this was complicated by the large tour groups using the hotel. The room size was ok and it was reasonably clean, but the staff generally did... More

We stayed at the Grand Bukhara for three nights as part of a recent Uzbekistan / Turkmenistan tour. We arrived from Turkmenistan where my wife had been taken ill with food poisoning. As soon as we arrived both the reception and restaurant staff were extremely kind and thoughtful. Throughout our stay they made an effort to lay on special food... More

This hotel was ok for two nights. I had a nice view of the square. The rooms are quite small, but it was clean and everything worked. Only warm water in the morning. THe breakfast was fine and quite good. The staff were friendly and polite. The internet didn't work the whole time I was there. Nothing else to walk... More

148 rooms - My least favourite Hotel of the ones I stayed in in Uzbekistan, I don't like lifts, and although the stairs in reception start off in Marble with gold handrail, as you go up so it gets worse & worse with concrete steps and no handrails!! but at least I didn't have to use the tiny (but ornate)... Note that at check out we faced a staff integrity issue, which I’ll cover at the end here as well. The pluses were the recent renovation resulted in freshly painted surfaces plus newer windows, doors, carpets and such. All was clean. The breakfast buffet was medium sized, but stick with baked goods and french toast and avoid the tepid/warm dishes... More
