beware some of the Tripadvisor pictures are not Sofa Gallery Hotel. The Sofa Gallery is somewhat dirty, breakfast is terrible, rooms are small. The bathroom to our room was on the balcony. Sofa Gallery is run down. When I asked for coffee to wash down the breakfast I was told only instant coffee. I asked about the coffee and was told it has not worked in a couple years. I asked for anything to was down the breakfast and was told I could buy bottled water. The pool water 1/4 to 1/3 full, tv didnt work. Rundown.

This is such an amazing hotel that is well maintained and run by a family who are super friendly, kind and helpful. I got a free pick up and drop from the train station, breakfast was amazing, rooms are super clean, quiet and safe. The hotel is situated on the Mekong River, not too far from the Thai-Laos border post. They have a pool which is great for those hot days. The owners are very happy to help you plan your sightseeing in Nong kai and will give you advice on how best to get done what you have planned. I really enjoyed my stay here and I would recommend it if you’re planning a night or 3 in Nong Kai :)

initial observations of the foyer were wonderful like entering an enchanted world, however this all disappeared once given our rooms. Having booked four of the five rooms available, I am able to say each was very lacking and all were dirty and shabby looking. No refreshment were available in any room, no TVs in three of the four rooms and for the two upper rooms occupants had to go out to the veranda for the bathrooms. Rooms were not clean and bedding And towels left a lot to be desired. At least two rooms had drainage problems after having a shower, with some experiencing damp on the walls. Outside was no better, the chairs and tables could use a bit of attention and what was once clearly a swimming pool now housed fish, it had no guard or indication of how deep it was and having small children was a little afraid they could fall in. While it offered access to the river Mekong, guests had to navigate the unkempt garden and mud at the bottom of some very dubious steps. As if the rooms were not bad enough, the service was terrible, no breakfast included and when asked for help in getting transport as the hotel was not close to any amenities, we were told to walk up the road and find our own. It is a pity because the hotel has plenty of potential and with some care and attention could be a quant place to stay.

I stay in river view room. This place is great view, see the Mekong river. The garden and lobby are so nice. The staff were lovely. But the bed and pillow are hard, sofa is not good, no TV and too many dusty.

I booked for a river view room but was put in a garden view room. No TV., No bed sheet changed after the previous guest checked out, No water heater. With this price, I guess they aim not to sell facilities but the ambience of the hotel, which I do think that it is the only one good thing about this place. The air condition is too old. Bad smell. The toilet is leaked and can be flushed. They do not have pillow case, and that means what the previous guest left on the pillow, you have to face or smell it right on your very own skin. I will definitely not come back.

This is a good place to relax near the Mekong. In fact from my upstairs room there was a very nice view. The staff were great when there and the breakfast was very good too. Now when I booked and looked at the place through Booking.com and Agoda I read that there was a pool to dip in. No thank you it was full of dirt and fish and.... No bicycles but they said I could get one, never saw a bike. The check in was good, helping me to my room with luggage. The check out was not good. There was no one there except a very nice little boy. There was no restaurant. They went out to get my wonderful breakfast and brought it back. No restaurant for lunch or dinner either. A bar did not exist at the time I was there. I loved the staff when I saw them. The room was ok but would like little things like pillow cases and mosquito coils for the outside bathroom which I shared with various insects and other critters. I gave it an average but I give Agoda and Booking a terrible on what they say and what you get. Again the staff were exceptional and helpful. You need a car to go into town or maybe a tuk tuk is near by. There are a few restaurants on a very busy road near by. Oh yes, the wifi worked great.;)

The Sofa Gallery Hotel is quite what the Name says: I tiny place at the Meking river with only 5 or 6 rooms. It is a very romantic place although the building is made completely out of concrete. We did particularly like the lovely decorated rooms that made us feel comfortable immediately. The pool is not a pool but rather a Pond that used to be a pool. Nice garden. The kitchen is maybe not what you would expect, breakfast is pretty basic and not up to the Standards of other Thai Hotels. The Hotel is not in the very City Center and you rather take a tuktuk to go there.

Small family run hotel with the best hospitality I have ever experienced. The owners are super friendly and go out of there way to help. Rooms are basic but still contain everything you need (book a river view room, sip your drink on the terrace and dream!) I was happy to share my bathroom with four gecko's. I named them John, Ringo, Paul and George! The setting is perfect and the gardens stunning. If you like chrome, glass and marble this place probably isn't for you but try it anyway, maybe you'll change your mind. I normally stay in branded international hotels and this was such a welcome change. Like falling in love all over again.

Staying at this very little hotel (5 rooms) was a nice experience, very different from the anonymous larger places in and around Nong Khai. It is situated somewhat outside the city, but within minutes of driving. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, with plenty of suggestions on what to do and see. The rooms are nice, the bathrooms good, though some maintenance could be needed. There is a nice terrace overlooking the Mekong. Breakfast was splendid, evening food excellent too. We will definitely come back
