A wonderful cabin, spacious, with a lovely porch with comfy hammock. It had a huge bathroom, the daily housekeeping was very efficient with the room always very clean. There's no air con but instead a floor-standing fan which was very effective and we slept well. Mosquito net over the bed which did the job in keeping us cool at night even though daytime temperatures were scorching. We did find a couple of mozzies in with us on our first morning and bought some bug spray from the 7-11 store which we used each night to be on the safe side. No lie-ins as you get woken early by the tropical dawn chorus. You feel like you're in the middle of the rainforest, it was wonderful. It was also great to wake up and see hundreds of tiny dots of the brilliant sunlight through the tiny gaps in the bamboo walls. The cabins are in a great location - just a few mins walk from the south end of Long Beach and easy walk to the restaurants on the main road. Very welcoming and helpful hosts, we were very sad to leave. On the minus side (only minor points), there is no furniture apart from the bed and a single chair (which we used on the porch). It would be good to have somewhere to put clothes especially as the room is quite dark so often difficult to see what's where.…

Enjoyed my stay immensely, very comfy room at the back with 1 hammock. Mosquitos were not a problem, I usually get bitten badly. The nets were very effective. Powerful cold shower. You can hear birds rustling the thatch on the roof and chickens scratching under the floor so it might not be your kind of place. Also the call to prayer is very loud around 0530 if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. If you want to eat in the restaurant give a bit of notice and you might enjoy a group meal. We had a fabulous Thai buffet which was very good value.

We rate this bamboo hut experience as one of our best travelling in Southeast Asia. We had prepared ourselves by reading about staying in a bamboo hut - mosquitoes and all. I would strongly recommend staying here, however, you need to be prepared with mosquito repellent for your skin and the room before you get into your cosy comfortable mosquito netted bed. You also need to make sure that you have earplugs. The bamboo hut has the same soundproofing as a tent when you’re camping. You will hear all of the animals, birds, neighbours and trees brushing against the roof. There are different sizes of huts here at Andaman Sunflower and the one that we had was the largest with two hammocks on the verandah, and hot and cold running water in the shower. Although a fan is provided we didn’t require it, it was just nice to lay on top of the covers and sleep in the comfort of the temperature. Unusually for Thailand the mattress and pillows were very comfortable with good quality linen. The location is good, on Long Beach which is one of Koh Lanta’s finest beaches with a long stretch of powdery sand and calm clear water. There are enough restaurants, coffee shops and bars nicely spread out as to not seem too busy but with enough to go somewhere different every night of your stay, all within walking distance. Minimarts are also within walking distance. If you leave the driveway of the Andaman Sunflower and turn right, about 1 km up the road there is a red sandy track which takes you to a fabulous beach. If you want to hire a moped you can go to Ok Salon where they do moped hire, haircuts and laundry. They won’t try and rip you off. We would love to stay here again.…

This little bungalow accommodation lies at the south end of Long Beach on Koh Lanta. Situated in a garden-like area the wooden-bungalows are simple, but clean and not too expensive. The accommodation is calm- you only hear the birds ;-) They have round about 15 bungalows in two different sizes- we stayed in the “Deluxe Bungalow”. They have fan, no A/C. But it’s enough because at nighttime it cooles down a bit. The bathrooms are “open”, so it’s always a nice breeze when you shower;-) ! Mosquito nets are offered! You have to drive a small little way from the main street to arrive at the Andaman Sunflower. To get to the beach it’s just a 3-5 minutes walk. As we do more like the calm beaches with less people and wanted to develop the island, we rented a scooter for 250,- Baht/day. So it’s easy to get everywhere! Noory helped us with every matter we had and answered any of our questions:-) ! …

Andaman Sunflower offers a really great value for travelers on a budget as the bungalows are quaint and the price point is very low. On balance it's a good spot for those who can tolerate its few shortcomings. Positive points: -The owner Nu is an awesome and friendly lady who will remember your name and make you feel welcome at the resort; -Beautiful grounds with flowers and plants; -Delicious breakfast prepared fresh to order by Nu; -Charming appearance of bungalows and hammocks on the patios; -Mosquito nets over all beds (this might actually be the most important point...) -Close to Long Beach, really good if the jellyfish aren't around, and at the bottom end of a very good strip for food, tour companies, bars, etc. -Relaxing sounds of nature at night, although this is a double-edged sword (see below) -Really, really good price; Negative points: -Mosquito central - without insect repellent you will not want to leave your netted-in bed to enjoy the hammock, patio, etc. Also, bungalows are basic thatched design and bathroom very much unsealed, so you will have numerous mosquitos in your room. Although the entire island of Koh Lanta really should be called "Mosquito Island", so not sure they could do much more about this given the design of the bungalows; -No hot water in the bungalows, which made showers not the most pleasant experience if not taken during the hottest part of the day; -No amenities - beyond the toilet paper and towels they provide, you're on your own for soap, shampoo, water, etc. -Wooden bungalows have no soundproofing whatsoever so animals like roosters, native shrieking birds or neighbours with crying babies etc. make early wake up usually unavoidable, and without earplugs some nighttime wake ups might happen too; Overall, I had a really nice stay here and would recommend it to some of my friends but not others. That said, guests should approach the whole experience with open eyes about what kinds of conditions to expect and then can have a good time for a great price. …

Like one of the recent reviews, I’m a little confused as to where the fantastic hosts were. The lady was always very pleasant (sorry I don’t know their names as they didn’t introduce themselves) and helpful, however, I only ever saw the chap sitting in the restaurant area holding court with other Germans. That’s fine of course but he didn’t make himself known on us checking in, which seemed a little odd. The thing that made me feel a little unwelcome is on checking in I was asked to pay up front, in cash. When I replied saying I didn’t have enough cash on me, it seemed to be brushed aside and not mentioned again until checking out. All a bit unusual and not a good first impression. However, the rooms are basic and clean, with nice bathrooms and comfortable beds. The sounds from the wildlife would have you believe you’re right in the middle of the jungle at times, and not five minutes from the beach and two minutes from the main road; so a nice oasis in that respect. The five minute walk to the beach isn’t a scenic one so don’t expect anything too fancy. The WiFi is largely unusable so don’t rely on it if you have to book travel etc. All in all, a pleasant place to stay due to the decent garden setting, but it could be so much more with just a little more attention from Mr host. …

Stayed here for 5 nights while diving through a local dive shop. Close to 711, long beach (beautiful) 5 min, many restaurants just out on the main road. The grounds of the resort are very beautiful, many flowers and very well kept. House cleaners daily. Comfortable hammock. Typical cold shower/no AC/mosquito nets but that is par for the course here in Thailand. In previous reviews there was mention of group dinners and the hosts being particularly friendly. Unfortunately this wasn't our experience. After arriving we were shown to our room but no mention of any restaurant on site or any group dinners. Hoping to meet some other guests, we decided to go play some cards and have a beer (which we brought) in the main area. Turns out this was the restaurant, which we were not informed of (nor signs indicating no outside food or beverage), and we were asked to leave out of respect for the other guests since we had brought our own beer (host: 'i created the rule 50 years ago out of respect for other guests'...). It made us feel we were intentionally disrespecting other guests. The small balcony area in front of the huts has a hammock but no chair in the one we were staying in, and noticing several other places with a chair around us we asked for one but were told 'if i have to give one to you, then i have to give one to everyone.' we ate our dinners on the floor and played cards there, no big deal, but the next day a new couple arrived next to us, sans chair, but within the day had a chair AND a coffee table...I asked again about a chair which was met with 'so you want to steal a chair eh?' we were eventually allowed to borrow a chair, albeit on our last night there. Anyway...not a huge issue, but we did not feel very welcomed. I must say as well although the grounds are covered in beautiful flowers and lying in the hammock you can often smell them, the smell that was most prevalent was that of sewage...we were in the bungalows along the back row, and I am not sure if it is this property or the one behind it, but it was quite unpleasant, that said it did not get me out of the comfortable hammock…

Good bungalow stay but prepare to stay in a bungalow. The conditions will be similar to camping. That means: -mosquitoes in the room (mosquito net provided over bed) -hot days and night (fan but no AC) -No hot water -low pressure toilets (toilet paper goes in waste bin) The good: -Fantastic hosts! They hosts were amazing. The owner was incredibly kind. In addition to staying up for our late arrival, she organized transportation back to the airport and kept our floors and trash clean throughout our stay. -5 minute walk to the beach. -4 friendly dogs on site. -great location on Long Beach near lots of cheap and delicious places to eat. The bad: -the living conditions were a bit more challenging than I anticipated (see above). But I blame myself for not doing more research. The listing seemed true to image. I should have done more research on what a bungalow entails. Good for roughing it with friends. …

We had two huts, the garden view and the standard with fan. The standard was basic and clean, the garden room was huge with a massive bathroom that felt a bit like luxury to us travelling. Didn't spend much time in the room but would have loved to have stayed longer. Cold showers, but I don't mind this so much. The layout is great as there is a nice garden and you don't feel crammed in. Loved the hammocks on the balconies. The only negative is the rooms aren't very sound proof, so if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs.

I stayed here for four days and loved it. The bungalows have nice hard wooden floors, comfy beds, fans and there is an attached bathroom. The bungalow was very clean and there was a nice porch with a hammock. The restaurant here was also very nice and serve delicious food. The owners were very helpful and friendly and can assist in booking any activities or onward transport. The location is very good. It's very quiet at night and is only a 2 minute walk to the beach, I highly recommend this place.
