We visited as part of a 3 week trip across India, this was our first stop. We weren't on a budget but we weren't going for top end rooms either in Amritsar. For us the most important things were location and cleanliness. The hotel is run by guys so lacks the hospitality and warmth you would expect, you can barely... More

My husband travels a lot to Amritsar and it was his fifth time in this hotel. Year ago we went to Amritsar for three days and also stayed there. The staff is very unfriendly, and the rooms are far away from good. The room we got was very damp and cold. I've complained about it and they gave me a... More

About 1 minute's walk (if you are slow) to an entrance to Harmandir Sahib. We stayed in the lowest price room. It was mall but OK. And clean. Yes, we had to ask for a heater -- so what? In Indian hotels you always have to ask -- they seldom anticipate your needs. Main drawback is there is no restaurant... More

This place is right opposite to the golden temple. Cars are not allowed till this place. So, you have to hire a rickshaw to carry your luggage from the temple check post till hotel. We hired a standard room and I was appalled to see hotel staff not providing room heater till we asked for it. The staff was very... More

You go to Amritsar for 3 reasons: Golden Temple, Jallianwala and Wagah. The Sapphire is the best place for 2 of the 3 (for Wagah, you need to travel anyway). The hotel is located right at the back gate of the Golden Temple. This makes it very convenient to visit the temple. we went morning, evening and night. The Jallianwala... More

Stayed from 30thNov to 2nd December and found it very comfortable. It is right opposite to one of the gates of Golden Temple which make it further attractive. There is no restaurant in the hotel or nearby, but food served via room service was good. The famous Brother's dhaba is around 700-750 mts away so one can easily walk or... More

The area around the Golden Temple is getting a face lift so the best option is this Hotel. It is just opposite to NRI Yatri Nivas and just opposite to the Ghanta ghar of Golden Temple and the good thing is that every auto driver and rickshaw wala knows about this place. The rooms are basic but nicely maintained and... More

Stayed for 4 days, the positive point being the location as it is next to the backward entrance, but the cons are no restaurant is available in the hotel and the food is overcharged. Rooms are clean n tidy but not spacious with only basic aminities only.

Stayed in Sep 12. The hotel is just opposite the back enterance of golden temple. The rooms were very clean and well ventillated. Food was decent. The only disadvantage is that the access road to the golden temple is blocked for autos and taxis between 8am till 8 pm. So, we had a tough time looking for transportation from the... More
