We went to the Green Turtle Lodge based on a recommendation of a friend. From a location point of view, it was absolutely worth to take the rather long and exhausting journey from Takoradi - 1.5 hours mostly on a bumpy dirt road. The location is idyllic, marvelous, astonishing: African huts in a garden of palm trees just by the... More

... it comes very close here. We stayed here for two nights on recommendations from other travellers and thoroughly enjoyed it and wish we could have stayed for longer. To get to the place it is at the end of a very bad road, or maybe dirt track is a better way to describe it,(I'm amazed though taxi drivers are... More

I had no problem with the lodging or services at Green Turtle. As a beach resort, it was fine. You know what you are getting with shared bathrooms etc and the bar is relaxed and fun. My beef is with their advertising themselves as eco protectors of sea turtles. The "educational tour" about the preservation of the sea turtles was... More

Ah, nice sandy beach, blue sea, friendly staff and a relaxed attitude... What more do you want? Yes, it is a long way but it is worth it! We didn't go on the trip for the turtle watching, so I can't say more about it, but simply staying at this beach, enjoying the beautiful (ecofriendly) rooms and the funny staff,... More

The journey here was nightmarish and nearly unbelievable for us, especially with a two two driver who didn't know this place. It was a 9 hour trip in all from Big Milly's (an hour outside of Accra), and the last hour or so was in the pitch blackness, on a deeply rutted, mud path with just one directional sign the... More

I stayed here for 3 nights and initially was quite happy but when I went to pay my bill the rate was increased from 50 Ghc to 60 Ghc per night which was not what was agreed. Vegetarian food was very limited and there was a lack of guests which added to the lack of atmosphere. At night no lights... More

One of my most memorable weekends. Truly off the beaten track (don't be discouraged by the dodgy road or cost of hiring a taxi to take you there - it's worth it). Very beautiful, serene. Amazing french toast for brekky. Coffee was average but thaat was the least of our concerns. Not much in the way of a shops, local... More

Excellent food and staff. Beautiful undisturbed coastline. Lovely fishing village next door for you to explore with your camera. I have traveled in 8 west african countries and this is by far the best overall experience I have had anywhere.

They really have got this place almost perfect...lovely rooms, excellent food and good service on a remote piece of sand. The only downside is the location, which really is not much fun to get to, particularly on a Sunday. I ended up on a trotro for an hour...and then had to walk for a half hour! But still...well worth it.

Pros: The rooms were above average (for backpacker), the vibe relaxed, the beach very long and large Cons: The water is too rough for swimming, most ingredients for drinks and some of the food were "finished" making for little selection, they didn't have any lounging chairs for reading, the road to get there is horrendous (on the way out, we...
