This the third time that I've stayed at this family Hostal. Amazing colors and breakfast included. Close to everything and bike rentals are on site. Fun place to stay for a day or week. Two blocks from the market and the bus station. Good use of river rocks

The prices seem higher in Otavalo anyway, but $12 per night was more than I've been used to in Quito. Having said that, a nice breakfast was included, the rooms were decent and the courtyard is lovely, with hammocks for lounging in.

Love this place, only 2 blocks from the main square market, and on Saturday it is only one block. Across the corner is the in store made ice cream, banana splits $1.35 . We had this place virtually to ourselves when we were in Otavalo so our experience was probably a bit different from others, but we enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere with 2 levels of rooms circling a stone courtyard with avocado trees, hammocks and an outdoor fireplace. Right next door to El Rincon del Viajero. The prices are similar (I think Rincon is a bit cheaper for a private bath though), but the staff is the difference-maker. Rincon has nice, amiable staff (and adequate numbers) where Amanecer is understaffed and they´re a bit grumpy. Nothing malicious, just not real friendly.
