Extremely musty/moldy smelling rooms. Lobby is home to a stinky canine. No hand rails on the steep stone stairways - really dangerous. Old noisy wall ac units. Doesn't take credit cards - unless the owner is on the premises and then she might. But she charges a lot extra when she does.

We were only in Guayaquil for a night before flying out to the Galapagos. We'd arrived after a long bus ride from Banos without a reservation. Thankfully, they had a room for us. It was more expensive than other hostals in Ecuador, but maybe those are Guayaquil prices? It certainly had great amenities. The pool is delicious in the humid... More

Before arriving to Hostel Iguanazu from the mountains of Loja, I was already impressed by the presentation at the website and brochure photos, and an enthusiastic review from another traveler whom I had met briefly in Vilcabamba. When I arrived, at least from outer appearance, Iguanazu lived up to its reputation, and was quiet, and aesthetically pleasant. But this was... More

I like the hostel Iguanazu because there is a paradise. Guayaquil is so hot, its people very nice! I enjoyed its tropical fruits, it is served from the trees to the table. I could saw birds at mi window every morning!

The hostal was very accomadating. The staff was very friendly, and always helpful. The Junior sute was very comfortable, and had a home-like feeling. The overall atmosphere was great. And Gacho, the resident bulldog was ridiculously cute, and friendly. I look forward to staying at Iguanazu again.

Loved this place. You enter a gate leading to a stairwell into a peaceful paradise with a spectacular view of the city. It was a safe haven where you immediately feel at home and like one of the family. We had to be buzzed in every time we entered the Hostal which made us feel secure. Beautiful piece of property... The pros= a nice site overlooking the city with good common areas including a pool, ping pong table, and computer. Nice service staff. The cons= our room was very dirty and janky. The door had holes that were covered with tape, the bathroom had large amounts of mold, and there were lots of bugs in the bed and on our... More

This funky hostel has a lovely quiet location on a tropically wooded hill in northwest Guayaquil. It's a bit far from the airport, but still taxis just cost $5-$7 to the airport (except that for our initial arrival we had asked the hostel to arrange a taxi pick-up and the driver had to wait a long time for us to... If you want to relax & enjoy an amazing view of Guayaquil from the swimming-pool, this is the place for you. The suites are not cheap but are very comfortable & have a hot tub. The downside is that there is no bar, so if you want to have a relaxing time having a beer or some wine you'll need... More
