The hotel is older and showing some wear. But, I did NOT have the negative experiences of several other reviewers. That is, the front desk staff was pleasant and my room was clean, even if the carpet was ready for replacement. The walls were a little thin and we could hear our neighbors in the early morning just having a... More

Depending why you're staying in B'ham, this hotel may or may not be for you. It's an old hotel, but refurbished inside. Friendly and accommodating staff. The room was comfortable as was the bed, and very quiet. It is not the "Ritz," but if you're looking for a good and basic and decent place for a night's rest, then this... More

When I made reservations, I made it clear I need grab bars to take a shower in a shower or tub. Was told they had one. After checking in, we noticed that the grab bars they said they had was about 4 inches above the top of the tub. No way could you take a shower and hold to the... More

The Redmont is trying hard to be a good hotel, but can't make the grade. It looks tired, needs a lot of cleaning, bare spaces that are waiting to be something. We had a suite and it was big, but there was nothing in it but a bed and desk and loveseat. We actually had to move the loveseat to... More

The staff at the front desk was not friendly. The marble floors are dirty and have not been polished. The carpet is very old. The furniture in the lobby and rooms needs to be refinished or discarded- currently some of the furniture is draped with sheets. The mattress and pillows are uncomfortable. The bedding is poor quality. No information was... More

Old hotel with much potential but has not been maintained. Thins along with little attention to detail and minimal staff and it has a creey, errie feeling.

Great staff ! Lovely room. This is a piece of history. As you sit at the sky top lounge just think 87 years ago this grand hotel opened ! No points other than life points. Keep the history alive what a great experience. You had to park across the street wow where was the last city you parked. A city... More

I called to book a King Suite for two guests for two nights, and every time I called I had to wait minutes for someone to pick up. Then whoever picked up was a) not friendly b) definitely not competent Well I made the mistake of going with the reservation because historic boutique hotels in my city generally have a... More

Of all of the hotels I booked via the internet for our tour of the 'deep south', this was the only disappointing one. Like other reviewers, I was not at all convinced that my car would be in the deserted-looking lot opposite the hotel in the morning (OK - it was!). The room was dowdy and sad. The hotel just... More
