I stayed at the dawn light cottages affiliated with the hotel, they were less expensive than the regular rooms but were small and uncomfortable. My advice if u r not interested in sunrise or sunset viewing. No need to stay on mountain top. There is no heating arrangement in the hotel ( except 1 Dec to i think till Feb)........ More

The good news is that under the duvets it was very comfortable. But in February our room (and the entire hotel) was freezing. The breakfast was acceptable, but the supper was greasy and overcooked. The staff were the most unfriendly I've ever found in China. On the other hand, the location is probably the best to see the sunrise (except... More

There is not much choice for accomodation on top of the mountain and the Beihai hotel is one of the better ones. You come to the mountains for the scenery and the walking, not for a luxury stay. We asked for a room in the new wing and that was quite okay. The king bed is very hard, but if... More

When you're hiking in Huangshan, you're not really there for the hotel. Expecting the worst at this hotel, we were pleasantly surprised. We had a relatively functional room. The smoke and mildew smell was intense in the room, so my head was under the duvet the whole time. Smoking is pervasive even right under the "no smoking" big signs and... More

Days before my trip to Huangshan, I have been reading reviews of this hotel, so am ready for the worst. This hotel has been here for so many years and cater mostly to the local tourists, who usually travel in groups, generally rude, talking in loud voices/shouting as if people are deaf, and don't queue! Puffing cigarettes inspite of big... More

The Beihai Hotel is at the top of the mountain and all supplies are carried up by hand. So it is not surprising that it is a bit outdated. However it is comfortable and clean. For some reason there is no heat in the lobby or restaurant, so bundle up. We found the staff helpful and pleasant. This is not... More

There aren't too many fully fledged hotels on the mountain, due to volume and the remoteness of getting supplies up (we were told everything is hand lifted up the mountain!). Having said that, the Beihai does a satisfactory job of giving you shelter for the night. The restaurant serves average and overpriced food, and the room itself had an odd... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in March. We were told that it was a four star hotel. At best it is a three star. The room was shabby and in need of renovation. The bed was very hard. General level of upkeep was also poor (worn and dirty carpets, etc.). The food and the service was also... More

We stayed in this hotel one night in the middle of march 2012. We had booked three rooms nearby each other- and got them too! and extrabeds!! Rooms were a little bit oldish but clean, warm and no mold!! (stayed at the Best Western at Hotspring and 3 rooms out of 5 molded) Ate lunch and dinner at the hotel... More

it is a reasonable good hotel up on a hill considering at such a height. even if the hotel is fully occupied, you can still pitch a tent in the basket ball court in front of the hotel at a fees, OR even tent is also for rental. The campers can also use the fascilites of the hotel. How kind !... More
