There are only few guesthouses in Hsipaw and Mr. Charles definately is a very good choice. First I had a room in the new "luxurious" wing, which was really fine, with a very clean attached bathroom. After few days I moved to the backpackers wing. It was ok, but keep in mind- the only bathrooms are downstairs in the yard... More

Found the entire family and staff to be very helpful. They took excellent care of all of their guests. Every morning at breakfast the girls would be there to help people with questions, they also arranged the guides to be there for trekking questions and arrangements. The accommodation is as expected at the price including breakfast, clean rooms and hot... More

We spent two nights in Hsipaw (including a wonderful full moon festival complete with hot air balloons!) and we are so glad we made the trip. It's a great place to spend a couple of days. Mr. Charles Guesthouse is a safe place to bed down. Our room was spacious, clean, and the A/C worked perfectly. The breakfasts are simple... More

I've been very disappointed because I read some good things about this guesthouse.Disappointed about the staff, a rude and unhelpful young receptionist. The room I've got , situated in the new building, just behind the reception was not very comfortable, looked old.The bathroom was large but it was necessary to wait 15 minutes to take a hot shower. They must be... More

We stayed just the one night during our trip to Myanmar in February. We were on the 2nd floor of the new building and the room was fine with a balcony that we did not use. The bed was very firm. The breakfast was OK with eggs, toast, fruit, etc served outside by staff with their coats on. They do... More

First of all, booking ahead is advisable to get a room and a decent room at that. We arrived by local bus from Kyaukme (enjoyable and worth doing). Walked to Mr Charles. Hadn't booked and only 2 rooms available : 1 dark, small room in old part of building $13 or a newer, brighter and cleaner room in newer part... More

I arrived in Hsipaw with limited time available. I was not sure whether I would spend one or two nights. I was told if I was staying two nights they only had a room in the old part of the guest house, so I took this. I paid 18 dollars, which I found poor value. The room was very small,... More

why does everyone follow like lemmings the LP advice to stay here? no longer a guesthouse, this has become a big anonymous hotel full of foreigners- no local flavour, and their monopoly damages other businesses in town. explore other options , there are real family guesthouses in Hsipaw that have much more atmosphere and cosiness

Outstanding guesthouse. They've been at this for a long time, reviewed by many bloggers and travel guides. My room was very comfortable, very clean. Nice small balcony. Comfortable rooftop garden. Good breakfasts. They book high quality guiding trips. If you want effortless travel, this is the place to stay. Really, there is no place in town that even comes close... More

We stayed in the new part of Mr Charles guest house and found the staff very helpful especially when my husband and I came down with a tummy bug infact the receptionist offered to go and get us some rice and chicken as we were very tired. The rooms are clean and they can arrange trips for you. Even if... More
