We've been here twice so far for a romantic getaway weekend. Good: panorama, food, prices, rooms Not so good: insufficient parking spaces, crowded in the summer time, lack of additional facilities (pool, spa, playground for children, etc)

We stayed at The Mistral in October 2011. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted with a smile. The reception / lounge area was not decorated to our taste however was clean and tidy with lots of comfy sofas. A bar was located also in this area.
Our room was clean and tidy and had a brilliant view...

We stayed with a group of mixed golfers and we found the hotel to be adequate. The rooms were clean, showers a bit dodgy, the breakfast was basic but ok, staff friendly. Parking could be better, especially when you are carrying golf clubs. For the price very good value. Try the Hemingway restuarant next door, it was very good.
I ignored the mixed reviews on TA and booked here as it was the Lonely Planet pick. I should have trusted TA!
There is simply no way this is a 4 star hotel. Perhaps it was when it opened, but something - perhaps a change of ownership or management - has happened since then.

Great rooms, big beds, leaking shower (both mine and a friend) and if you want a breakfast, get up early as it is not replenished.
I've stayed there on 3-5 April 2010.
When booked the room (in Feb-March 2010) I guaranteed with the credit card to the travel agency. When checked out on 5 April I've been asked at the hotel to pay. So I did, considering that there is an arrangement between the travel agency and the hotel. SURPRISE: after returning home I discovered...

Disgusting breakfast, no parking spaces, and an arm-chair as extra-bed.
We went to Mistral first time, last year for Easter holidays. We had such a great time there that we ended up coming to Balchik 6 times in 2007, just for the stay at the Mistral. We tried to make reservations for our vacation in 2008, but it was on short notice and we could not find anything free until...

Well restored old building on the Balchik marina with sea views from most rooms. Rooms are large, clean and modern with nice bathrooms. Hotel is surrounded by a few great outside restaurants. Try some local fish with a bulgarian salad and a local white wine - very inexpensive and great value for money!
