This is one of those places that takes some effort to get to, but well worth it. Everything is good here, just don't expect a luxury resort as it is not that (and doesn't pretend to be). Service is outstanding. We will visit again. A small thing, but a particular highlight was the fresh raw scallops they did one evening.... More

I stayed three nights at this wonderful Pousada just before Easter with my family. If you can afford it take the Casa Verde which is a beautiful 3-bedroom villa of the French owner of the Pousada which they usually rent when he's not there. What I loved the most is that there is no TV, internet and cars...you can really... More

It 'was the first time I arrived in Brazil. Lovely place, a paradise! Ideal to rest and take a boat ride through amazing islets. The resort is very nice, old colonial house, we stayed in the master's apartment... lovely! Breakfast was very good, like the dinner buffet. I would recommend it to all my friends.

I wasn't sure what to expect given that this is such a small village, so secluded and seemingly for couples, as I was there with a friend. On day one, the exceedingly helpful staff helped me settle right in to a few days of serenity, activity if I wanted it and just sheer pleasure. The view of the bay from... More

Not a luxury resort in the standard sense, but oh so relaxing.Very photogenic spot. Compact rooms,no TV or room phone, small pool, limited choice fish dinners. No traffic, no car park, no worries! OH yes the BIG NEWS is each bedroom now has air con. Great local staff, good bar (and wine) and food service. Though breakfast can have plenty... More

We have been here 3 times in the last 4 times with our children. Each time we've rented the house which gives one just that bit more privacy & allows one the benefit of a private house with hotel services. Adore that there is no road... love the hotel boat... fishing for lula.... Freshly caught fish BBQ'd by the staff... More

We spent 3 nights here at the beginning of our honeymoon and I actually nearly cried when we left as I wished we could have stayed longer! We spent months planning our honeymoon to South America and must have looked at every single pousada along the Brazilian coastline until we found Pousada Picinguaba. From the very first email they could... More

We finished our travels around the old colonial towns on the Estrada Real - the royal road - at this small fishing village half way between San Paulo and Rio. The drive from either city or airport is longish at about 4 hours but worth it. It is half an hour from Paraty. The setting is a national park by... More

This place is amazing. Although the rooms are small, the staff is incredibly friendly, the view is beautiful, and the setting is dramatic. One of my favorite aspects of our stay here was the food. It was amazing and fresh every day. Much of it comes from their farm two hours away. The fish is caught daily by local fishermen... More

I am a advertising professional living in Manhattan, who traveled here on a 5 day holiday with a dear friend after a 4 day stay in Rio. Although the accommodations at this boutique hotel are not "plush" because of its tropical climate and location, the stay here is truly a privileged experience. The Pousada is situated just above a quaint... More

The hotel Picinguaba overlooks a peaceful bay at the heart of the Natural Park of Serra do Mar, the tropical coastal forest running between Rio and São Paulo, about half an hour's drive south of Paraty. It is the only charming hotel in a 30km radius.
