Dirty, poorly maintained, unprofessional service. The location (in a hill, among trees) is fantastic, but simply doesn't worth it. The restrooms are disgusting and rooms are plenty of dust (noticeably they don't clean it for months). The private rooms offer balcony's view. But balcony is also the common and breakfast area, so be prepared to "sleep" with no privacy (even... More

While it was not too expensive, it would be worth it to pay a little more for somewhere better. The rooms and common areas were clean enough, but the lower men's bathroom (separated by a looot of stairs from all other bathrooms) were filthy and without power. There was only one construction style light in the bathroom at all, providing... More

On the plus-side the breakfast was good and it is possible to see and feed small monkeys during it. The view from the breakfast terasse is amazing, especially at night when you can see Botafogo, a favela and the Crist statue lit up. Furthermore There are two tvs with loads of channels to choose from in english and portuguese for... More

This is a filthy, noisy, hostel with staff (except for 1 or 2 exceptions) couldn't care less. The bathrooms are foul - toilets nearly always blocked and out of use, showers ice cold and unclean. Location is good but that is all. My advice - avoid at all costs.

This place is exceptionally disappointing, I recently stayed here for the Rio Carnival, I paid £300 for 6 nights for an 8 bed dorm. 1. I travelled with 3 other people, we were put into a 10 bed dorm, which had an extra bunk bed put in there- there was no room to even turn around without hitting something. 2.... More

I highly recommend you chose another hostel. This one, despite the nice view from the balcony - is filthy, tight, hot and poorly arranged, have HORRIBLE bathroom structure. Did I mention very filthy? Additionally it's full of cockroaches. I believe that offering rooms with the bad quality that they offer is lack of respect for the guest. I repeat again,... More

Not the cleanest but friendly and helpful staff. Liked the location, Botafogo was very nice. Be prepared for many steps to get to the hostel, we counted 141 to our room! Monkeys were cute and the forest around soothing!

Very nice location on a hill with view on the Christ statue. Free internet (also workstations available). Breakfast is very basic but good. I really don't get the other comments that it's high uphill and hard to get there. It's just couple of stairs, come on... it's no more than taking stairs to flat on 2nd floor. Helpful stuff. The... This is a fairly good hostel, but for an outstanding price. You are not going to find anything close to this value in Rio! The hostel itself is at the top of a hill and 150 stairs. It’s quite tiring to get up there, but it does give the whole place quite a secluded feel. The dorms themselves are a... More

You need to be very fit to stay in this hostel. We arrived with our backpacks after walking around Botafogo unable to find the place and the steps up to the hostel nearly killed us. Get a taxi from the metro station as it is really hard to find. Staff were unhelpful and not very friendly. We got a private... More
