apart from the warm welcome and the good caipirinha there is no reason to stay in this hostel. We paid almost 60 euro for an hostel, a dirty room, tap not working, plug not working, unconfortable bed and veeery old materass, locker brocken so we had to sleep with the door unlocked. For breakfast they served Italian Panettone...of course not... More

This hostel was comfortable and served its purpose. I would only recommend it as a bunk over for just one night. If your planning on spending longer then you might want somewhere else as the bed can be a bit uncomfortable because it has a waterproof mattress protector and thin sheets to sleep with. Otherwise i would say its a... More

We had problems coming back during week nights because taxi drivers did not want to come: it could be useful if people from the hostel advice you and try to find solutions. Not all the rooms are clean. Breakfast is poor (caffè, 1 sandwich wirh ham and cheese, not tasty fruit juice). By the way, personnel is kind and available,... More

We stayed for 4 nights in May 2012 and although we had a good time, we were a little disappointed in a few aspects. We paid 70 Reais a night on weekdays and 100 Reais on weekends, for a double room (plus bunkbed), with en-suite. Villa Leonor was the cheapest accommodation we could find in Rio (although still not cheap!),... More

We were there for 3 days, and we were wonderfully supported by their staff (everybody well prepared and also speak english fluently). The acomodations are simple but very comfortable. The breakfast at the balcony has an awesome view of the city's old downtown. Basically it's a great choice, near to the refion of Lapa, with low costs.

It was the cheapest place to stay (double bedroom) that we've found in Rio. The room (especially bedclothes) was dirty and the ceiling in bad condition. But the stay was very nice becouse of the staff! And breakfast, on the terrace was very good.

Great atmosphere created be people working there! Everyone there is very friendly, outgoing and helpful! If you coming by yourself you will find company to go out, go to the beach and if you lucky you can listen some live gitar too! Lovely breakfasts outside included! Nice bars around and easy access to centre - walking distance. Very highly recommended!

After staying a disapointing stay in Inpanema (I found the area characterless - not the Rio I had travelled 10 hours for) I discovered the historic, stunning, Santa Teresa. Cobbled sun drenched streets, ramshackle little avenues, stunning ancient buildings, a real homely feel. I am so pleased I stumbled upon Villa Leonor - a colonial house, now a hostel, in... More

Pros : I stayed 3 nights with a friend at Villa Leonor. The situation is perfect if you don't want to be in a touristic zone like Copacabana, Ipanema... Santa Teresa neighbourhood offers a great view from the whole city, we felt a great atmopshere in this place. About the posada, it is a lovely one, the terrace where you... More

As this was my first trip to Brazil I was not quite sure what to expect. I booked the hotel before leaving the uk on the recommendation of a blog I follow.
