We have just returned from our brief trip to the Pantanal. We were greeted in the airport by Eduardo - the English speaking but local owner of the Jaguar Eco Reserve. Our entire experience was just awesome. The airconditioned rooms/cottages were great, very remote - way down the Transpantaneira - giving a true feeling of the uniqueness of the Pantanal.... More

Wildlife everywhere, good food, great guides. Rooms OK. Game drives OK but boat rides on the river awesome, had a Jaguar growl at us about 1o feet away. Saw river otters, Macaws on property. Walking tours saw Howler monkeys and Caimans.

I was in the Pantanol in mid February 2013. Picked up at the airport by Eduardo himself, we quickly established a great raport, he has a terrific sense of humor, is so friendly and was able to answer every question I had...and I had many! An invaluable guide to have, there was not a bird nor animal, by site or... More

The Jaguar ecological reserve was an exiting place to stay while we were in Pantanal. We were picked up at the airport in Cuiaba by Tito - he was very friendly, an excellent driver and guide and really did all he could for us to see as much as possible in the 2 days we were staying. We did night... More

we (me and the Mrs.) stayed for 3 nights on mid September in JER. all in all, the experience is very positive. especially when you look at the Jaguar pictures afterwards... we decided on JER after quite a research on all options available in the Pantanal, therefore the expectations were set- we knew this lodge is very basic in its... We spend a week in the Jaguar Lodge, we knew it would be the best place to start our quest for the elusive jaguar. An animal that , so we found out soon after arrival, isn't that elusive in this part of the world!!! We saw 9 jaguars in the 2 boattrips we toke.. As wildlife photographers we absolutely loved... Unfortunately if you want to experience a trip on the Cuiaba river, at the end of the Transpantaneira, you will be forced to stay at this sub-standard lodge unless you wish to pay the BR$800 per night at the luxury hotel by the river. The lodge is around 40km from the river along the dirt road that is the Transpanteneira.... More

This is the perfect location from Cuiaba - some miles before Porto Joffre with its big hotel and visitors coming in for fishing. However it is close enough for a daily drive to the river on the Jaguar trail. Eduardo is an excellent guide & advisor - very helpful and a genuine enthusiasm for wildlife preservation. What's more, Milton who... More

The room was big, with no a/c, only fan, hot shower by solar panel, hot but only after some minutes of cold water. Electricity by generator, only noon to 3 and 6 PM to 6 AM. You can pay for extra electricity hours. The dining room is fine and the food really good, not lots of choices, 3 hot options... More

We went to the Jaguar Reserve based on a NY Times recommendation (though the author had not stayed there, obviously!) and only came across skeptical TA reviews a few days beforehand. We thought some TA reviewers were just being petty, but I am afraid they were right. The Pantanal is amazing, and our guide (Tito) was incredbly well-versed in all... More
