This historic hotel is uniquely situated in the heart of Ashland, VA. There are plenty of chain hotel/motels nearby but if you prefer to be in the heart of town you can't get any better than this. In fact the AMTRAK train tracks are just steps away from the front entrance. This hotel could be a real gem with very... More

Looking forward to meeting friends to listen to live music at the Ashland Coffee and Tea. Inn recommended by friends who stay there all the time. The inn was pretty and has a lot of potential but hasn't been updated since it was built. The decor is early 80's country. Complete with dried flower bouquets on the walls. We asked... More

Parking is in back and there is a ramp to the entrance making this a good place for handicapped. There are also first floor handicapped-accessible rooms. This is unusual in an old inn but this inn isn’t really old. The original 1868 building has burned to the ground twice and was re-built as an in in the 1990’s. Check-in was... More

A wonderful place to stay at in Ashland. Last minute, I decided I needed to get away for a few days and decided on Ashland. After looking online for hotels in the area, I came across the Henry Clay Inn and immediately booked. Rooms were clean and comfortable, staff was pleasant and accommodating, breakfast provided was good. Inn was conveniently... More

My wife and I recently had a wonderful time at the Henry Clay Inn. We took the train down from Wilmington, checked into the Inn, then walked over to the Randolph-Macon Football game. After the game, it was a short walk back to the inn. The hostess was there to greet us when we arrived at 6:00. Since it was... More

Came down to Ashland for day and was considering staying at Inn. In view of many negative ratings on multiple web sites we stopped by to see if we coul tour the property and see a room. We were told by the unfriendly hostess that she was busy and there were no rooms available to show, since they were fully... More

Second stay here in the past 3 years. Room was clean...bed was a bit hard though. Innkeeper was a not too friendly...and breakfast was just usual continental style. If you like trains this is a great place to stay!

As a former semi regular customer, I have seen this inn consistently lose its charm over the last several years. After a recent stay, I felt it best to describe what I had been feeling for a while. Most importantly, the room was not terribly clean, old and musty, the air vents contained mold and also came with ants (many... More

This is the second time I have stayed at this quaint inn. It is in the center of Ashland, easy to find off of Rte. 1 and Interstate 95. This place is so charming. It is a two-storied house with a large porch surrounding it with lots of rocking chairs for hours of reading and relaxing. The inside is decorated... More

Even though I had been a loyal customer, the Henry Clay Inn insisted on charging me for a room even though I cancelled. Too bad because the train community loves their location. Maybe they will get new, reasonable management. They put little effort in the breakfast they serve. I would stay away from this property.
