The threat of Hurricane Rita drove us Houstonians all over the place. After a grueling 10-hour drive, I made it into Austin, sometime around 1am. I had no reservation to anything, but when I saw the Ramada sign lit up in the distance, I went ahead and took a chance. The hotel was old, and needed some TLC, but it... More

This hotel was fine! Rooms were clean, pool was nice, and continental breakfast was great. I was a little concerned because I had read the reviews about how bad the place was, but only the fault I could find was the the TVs were a little old. The staff were friendly and very professional. We had 2 rooms and both... More

This "hotel" is probably the worst I've ever stayed at. There are so many things wrong here, I'll go through them in the order we discovered them. Check in: Staff couldn't find our reservation, although I had a print out of the confirmation page from Orbitz (and the pre-payment). They finally "found" a room for us, and the check-in personnel... Postive Points: The free continental breakfast. Clean swimming pool. Counter help friendly and helpful. Clean, fresh smelling room (ours was non smoking - room 507 - and it faced the skyline where we could view the 4th Fireworks). Had a nice rocking chair in the room. Working ice machine and soda vending machine. Clean lobby. Our bed had a tempurpedic... More

First-This place is now The Oak Inn. It is no longer affiliated with the Ramada chain. Second-My wife and I have stayed here 3 previous times as it is located near where my son lives. Third-The last time we stayed was in May of 2005 Fourth-We never found the place to resemble what the previous negative reviews indicated. All that... More

Austin, Texas Oak Inn Sunday night March 12, 2006 My room had a spectacular view of the skyline of the city of Austin. My bed had a memory foam mattress and I slept soundly and felt refreshed in the morning when I woke up. The room had been recently renovated and was very comfortable. The Oak Inn was very convenient... More

This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at in my life. My wife and I checked in for the weekend because it was close to where our friends live. Never again. Check in personnel were somewhat confused but no real problem there. Then, we got to the room. Looked like something out of a bad movie. Wallpaper... More

This was the absolute worst hotel experience in my entire life!!! The room had no heat on a 17 degree night and the bathtub was filthy. They moved me to another room where the remote was held together with duct tape and after getting another remote---then the TV did not work. I disovered the next morning that I (female) had... More

Don't waste your time or money on this hotel - pick *anything* else in Austin and you'll do better. Where to begin... The lobby was old and smelled musty. The internet computer in the lobby didn't work. My non-smoking room smelled nasty and smoky. No cell phone signal. Electrical outlet by the desk didn't appear to work. The bathroom had... More

This was the worst experience ever! I had reserved a room for two nights. When we checked in and got our card for our room, the card wouldn't ulock the door. After several tries, the maintenance man inside the room opens the door and says that he is working in the room and that it was unavailable. We were then... More
