I spent a week at Hokoso while visiting my daughter. It's family run, spotlessly clean, quiet location, delicious Japanese breakfasts, ofuro (communal hot bath), reasonable cost (more than a hostel but less than most decent hotels). Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby, 3 minutes walk from Tennoji station which is on a direct line from Kansai airport. As a woman... More

A Japanese colleague recommended this as the best place in Osaka to experience traditional Japanese accommodation and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone else. It's literally a two minute walk from Tannoji tube station although be aware that it does not have an English sign, just Japanese, so make sure that you have a good map. The staff... More

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here, very welcoming and clean. Breakfast was delicious and such good value for money. Very close to the Tennoji train station (within 5 minutes walk with our luggage), but did not hear any noise from the trains as the place is tucked away down a small alley. Lots of restaurants closeby to cater... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and consider it one of the best places we stayed at during our 2 weeks in Japan. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent - in a small lane way away from the hustle and bustle of the main street and only a... More

We stayed here for a week. It was our third time in Japan, and our second time in Osaka. This is a lovely inn, with very friendly people. The family speaks hardly any English, though between the three of them they share enough knowledge to manage a conversation. Breakfasts are awesome: they're delicious, very diverse and enough to last you... More

I love this place and have recommended it to all my friends who go to Osaka. The innkeepers do not speak English but they made an enormous effort to communicate with me and my family. When we came back to the inn at the end of the day, they were always waiting to welcome us back and ask about our... More

I went to the Ryokan Hokousou twice and spent a total amount of 4 nights. It was amazing: very clean, charming and welcoming. A really typical Japanese Inn! I was given a Yukata, slept on a futon placed in a room with tatami mats and used their cosy communal bathrooms. Great location at just 3 minutes walk from the big... More
