Well, I booked for 7 nights this hostel because I wanted to sightsee Kyoto by taking it slowly and easy. Also the price for staying in a Dormitory was for me quite cheap, considering I came from Tokyo where the prices were sky high. Anyway I'll break this review into three categories.
Location, access and getting around:
All right, you...

I actually stayed here on 3 different occasions on my recent Japan trip. Convenient to JR Kyoto train station, as well as bus/subway system.
Great staff, clean rooms, outlets in the rooms, lockers for each bed large enough for big luggage, well appointed and large kitchen with multiple refrigerators. Free coffee/tea anytime. WiFi works on all floors and in the...

I found K's House while trawling through Trip Advisor in search of anything affordable and decent near the Kyoto Central Station. So many reviews mentioned smoky rooms in hotels and very high prices. K's House turned out to be a great find and promised to be smoke-free--a definite requirement for me. They offer a wide variety of rooms, everything from...

Me and my wife stayed here for 3 nights during April, we stayed in a private room, the bathrooms were spotless, and private cubicles, our room was a double with a tv, some added shelves would have been handy, but we were more than satisfied, has a great bar with food, very well priced, rent a bike for a hour...

We stayed at K's House for 3 nights and it was great value for money!
The room was very basic - bunk bed, desk and wall mirror, but it was all you needed. There was quite a bit of floor space (even with our suitcases on the ground). The toilets and showers are shared.
What I loved about the hostel...

Excellent staff, convenient location, comfortable beds, great common room and kitchen, excellent value breakfast, cheap beer, clean, free wi-fi - K's is almost perfect, but not quite. There are not enough showers and toilets for the number of beds. They allow school groups to stay who when we were there overwhelmed the common room and breakfast.
I stayed here with a friend in April, and found it to be a decent place. I think we unfortunately caught someone in a bad mood at check in, but everyone else was helpful. Very clean, with a nice bar down the bottom, and (thank goodness!) lift access. Wouldn't mind curtains on the bunks though.
Literally. SO clean! SO SO SO clean. My husband and I got a private room - it was small, but the bed was comfortable and it had a window. This was the first hostel I have stayed at since my early 20s (ten years ago), and either hostels have changed (for the better), or this really is the nicest hostel...

I've stayed in a lot of hostels in my travels, and this is one of the best I've seen. It just seems like they got everything right. The beds are really comfortable and big, the lockers are big enough for even larger bags, everything seemed pretty safe and secure, and the staff was friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English....
